Hello guys...
Firstly let me introduce myself, some of us may have met and any that want to invite me for holidays on the other side of "the pond", I am always happy to meet new people!
For those who look at the name on the post and think "who the hell is the chick with the weird name" I am the Communications Manager at the National Space Centre and so responsible for the Sci-fi Weekend on 17 & 18 June.
I was lucky enough to meet Harry and Marc on Saturday and I hope alleviate any fears that may have begun about the event.
So here's the real deal... it is a Sci-fi event that will have a big slant towards Aliens (tying into the Anniversary). Harry's exhibition will sit in the HUB of the galleries and be supported by other partner organisations we are talking to at the moment.
The Alien Encounter does sound like being an amazing visitor experience, but I will leave it to the experts to explain (I will pull the ovary card on this one Harry!)
The National Space Centre is the host of the event and as such will be responsible for all parties involved, budgets, marketing and the overall management.
Now I am not pulling rank or wanting to play games, I cannot do this event without the support of the experts and fans, but I want us to all work together to make a fantastic visitor event for fans and families alike.
Just so you understand a bit more to help you make a decision if you want to get involved...
The National Space Centre is a not-for-profit charity that will look to cover its costs on the event.
All extra monies will go to charity (partners to decide)
There is a budget to cover basic costs for those exhibiting.
We promise to look after those working on the event (changing and relaxation room, lunch, refreshment etc)
We are planning a huge party on the Saturday night for all those working on the event with FREE beer (please tell me that sells it to you!)
I am happy to chat to anybody and if there's a pint involved the chat can go on for hours! So let me know your thoughts, ideas, questions etc...
