I don't know if "Buying stock" is necessarily a good analogy. That implies "ownership," which suggests
that one person who donates more has more of a stake than anyone else.

The idea of 'group donations' that I initially suggested was sorely for the idea of keeping it in the family.

If somebody with deep pockets on the site really wants it for their own, and doesn't want to share, that's on them.
It's their money of course. Not unlike people who buy expensive cars or screen used movie props.

I also think transparency is key to avoid a bidding war. Again, if person XYZ is buying it becaus ethey really want it,
then fine, feel free. If our group is donating to keep it "in house," that's also fine with me.

We have some talented individuals who can fix what's wrong with the APC and restore it
to what it was when Chris lived and loved it.

So I guess we need to make a decision as a community. Is there one person here who is
prepared to buy it for themselves with their own money, or are we going to donate funds
for The Aliens (& Chris') Legacy?

Discuss!

Having had two storage units broken into, I would highly recommend some form of insurance for theft, fire, water damage, act of God etc.

As to keeping this in house let me be clear. Since 2008 I have watched everything he poured his heart and soul into degenerate from his poor grieving widow who left everything stay in place and suffer from neglect until she passed away with no will.

I have seen a thieving litigious SOB claim to be her cousin step in and squat in her house for two years and practically sell everything not nailed down, and throw the rest in the basement for his damn dogs to chew on until he got evicted by a SWAT team.

And I was powerless to do A GODDAMN THING EXCEPT WATCH THIS HAPPEN!

This is all that's left.

If anybody here can make it happen, please make it so.

I just found out the APC will be up on EBay on 2/3/17. I posted on the PX board.

Indeed. Also there is a thread dedicated to this in the PX. I believe the PX thread should probably be the main one at this point.

No harm, no foul. Considering the subject, it's fine this time.

Just updating this thread since the PX thread is bound to fall off the board eventually:

Someone bought it on ebay. It was not the 'group', but surely if someone was willing to spend that much money we can have faith it will be taken care of.

Also hopefully they won't be shy about posting updates and showing it off back here. Congrats to its new owner, you have yourself something special there.
