Post subject:  Chris Chulamanis' APC

All of what remains of FNG's estate now sits in a lawyer's office which sadly includes his APC, which is in very sad shape. I have yet to get some photos, but it is not for sale yet. I am trying to see if there is still any interest out there by anyone willing to fix it up, and it is a major fixer up. This is an opportunity to get it super cheap, but I need to convince the lawyer there are some interested parties, otherwise it will not be saved.

In brief the interior is destroyed, and two wheels are broken off. A lot of exterior detail is gone or destroyed. Everything loose has been shoved inside it. The turret is still there. I did not get a close up look at it.

I will work on those photos. No one is obliged if they make an offer, and any offers are open. It may be all for naught anyway. Everything in that office is going to be sold in one lot, and everyone who intends to put a bid on it but me intend to pretty much throw the APC out.

Here is a photo from a few years back. This is not what it looks like today.

A sad story.
I would love to make an offer, fix it and give it a good home.

You can mark me down as a 3rd interested party when making the case that there is a market for it. If an offer is required in writing, let me know and I will PM you one to pass along.

I want to ask how it ended up in bad shape...but maybe I don't want to know.

This whole thing just drives me nuts.

Basically it was shoved into a corner to make room for a pot grow and chewed on by pit bulls. How's that make your blood boil?

Not boiling. More shocked for me.
This must be it how archaeologist feel when the discover lost treasures that have been "used" this way.
Still thanks for keeping us in the loop.

F***ing animals! And I mean both the owner and the dogs.

What if we all chipped together to save the APC and had it sent to someone who could restore it and house it? I'd be more than happy to place a bid on the APC, but is the lawyer looking for a specific dollar amount?

well everything left is going out in one big or small bid. I am the only one interested in the APC and a few other things. A buddy of mine is working with me as well as one of chris' neighbors to do what we can.The lawyer wants to just get rid of it as no one else is showing interest.

Would it be worth setting up a crowd funding thing for ppl to help by donating to your bid Enzo?

I could throw in a bit on a group effort to save it. might not be able to send much, but I do want to assist if needed.

I'd be definitely interested in donating to a crowdfund to secure Mr. Chulamanis' prized possessions so that the community can care for them.

I never knew him, he had passed before I came here but I understand the community's respect for him.

Exactly my thoughts.
As much as I'd love a 1:6 scale APC for my wee Marines, practically, I'm not a starter-for-10 for biding on Chris' stuff. I'd love to help it to stay [somewhere] in the community though.

If the lawyer just wants to get rid of it, then why not offer to just take the stuff you want to make his job easier?

probably has to get -some- money for it "just because"..

Exactly. The lawyer has yet to tell us yet if she is going to accept any of our bids or throw everybody's bid out and do as she wishes to make some money. She is looking to make "X" amount of money. So I have poured my soul out to this lawyer about the sentimental value. As soon as I can get those pix from my friend(he is out of town he does estate sales for a living) I'll get them up and you all can tell me if you are interested.

I'd be willing to donate to secure it. Keep us updated. Maybe we can win this battle.

Well, I think as a group we are in agreement about getting money together...we just need a place for the APC to go and we need to know if the lawyer is up for it or not.

But I'd also like to know why this is left up to the lawyer, shouldn't this be up to whoever Chris's family is? Or is that exactly what's happening?

Is Chris' armor and related gear in this lot of items the lawyer has?

There is no immediate family outside of the cousin who pretty much sold what he could and had to be evicted by a SWAT team for squatting. I had no reason to doubt that he was family and couldnt have fought it anyway. He squatted there for 2 years. He is completely out of the picture.
