The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

Since I'm painting my armour and other bits soon, I wanted to get some good reference pics. Having the BluRay boxed set, there is a fantastic disc with bonus pics on it, of the gear, and lots of continuity shots. So I snapped them with my digital camera...the quality of some of them isn't so great, and for that I am sorry. Hope these help! (took a while to get all these photoshoped a bit too lol)

Excellent compilation.

Polaroids of Hudson clearly show the single chevron on his arm. Wasn't there some debate about that recently?

Great shot of Hudson's Hack Pouch too. I love seeing the folks smiling in the background of these photos, it really looks like they're having some fun.

Anyone know what the mark is on Vasquez's right pant leg? Is it just the velcro from the inside of her pocket?

The bloody shot of Tip is pretty intense. Brings up sad memories...

Those original pics are nice and clear...those will work well for me when I'm painting. The polaroids do give a nice view into how things were on set, which is cool.

Retro, I'm pretty sure it's just the velcro patch for Vas' pocket.

A few interesting little loadout details I've picked up from the pics in this thread include;
The helmet cams in the first three pics all appear to have dummy lenses.
Imagee
Frost has three spudgun belt tools.
Image
Apone has three spudgun/belt tools 2 on his belt and one on his left grenade strap. Also the bottom of his VP70 Holster appears to be secured to the left grenade strap with both a paracord in a fancy knot AND wide black electrical tape. Finally he has a Night Raider apparently fixed to his right shoulder bell using the sheaths metal clip!
Image

Image
Frost has Grenades with 2 coloured caps both Red and Blue or Green Caps hard to say which from pic. He also carries his grenades tips outward.
Image
Wierzbwoski has grenades with 3 different cap colours. He also carries his grenades tips inward.
Image
Finally this SA80 is actually a Rubber Stunt model still love to know where they got one to cast up though!

Awesome observations!

I will say its possible the lenses simply have the lens caps on. I know I leave the cap on mine when not in use anyways

Also I don't think Apone's night raider made it into the flick, which is a shame. Could be worth noting these 'costume shot' polaroids were taken before filming started. So while great resources, what you see is not always what you got as changes did occur. Major changes include the obvious Remar as hicks in the series. Minor changes include changing Gorman's belt from what was seen here to the same fastex buckle all the other marines used. Spunkmeyer never actually used the OG-106 that he was pictured with. I think Apone's raider suffered a similar 'tweak' and there were bound to be others.

Image

Also check out the hair cut (or lack thereof) on Gorman! (also seen in the background of the apone pic). Shaggy haired hippy!

Actually, that photo is an Enfield XL64 or XL65. A Prototype rifle chambered for the experimental 4.85mm cartridge.

The rubber "SA80" pictured above is an L85A1 IW (Idividual Weapon).
The alternatives being:
L86 LSW (Light Support Weapon)
L22 Carbine
L98 Cadet GP Rifle.
L103 DP (Drill Purpose) Rifle

:P
