The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

I will confer with my colleagues.

As far as I'm concerned, you're wearing a camouflage uniform with no distinguishing marks, therefore it could be anything.

Yes I suppose it could be anything, but as I'm in identical clothing to the guys either side of me, wearing armour and brandishing a pulse rifle-esque weapon, it should be rather obvious what I'm portraying shouldn't it?

No, you're not identical. You're wearing what appears to be Polish camouflage, the Marine to your right is in USCM frog & leaf, both the Marines at your sides are wearing recognizable Colonial Marine patches, the weapon you are holding is irrelevant to the uniform, and the armour you are wearing cannot be considered to be a close facsimile of a Colonial Marine armour. I mention the armour with prudence as athletic padding has been used in the past to make a much closer approximation of Colonial Marine armour; myself included.

Is it obvious? Well, to this group, it is obvious that you are trying to look like a Colonial Marine. However, to an outsider not familiar with any of our work, it would definitely draw a blank, as you have no distinguishing marks to define you as a Colonial Marine. None of the cannon patches, none of the expanded universe patches, not even a flag. When I mention "uniform", it is in the sense of "uniformity" with the other Marines. Not just throwing on some camouflage clothing.

Again, I am conferring with my colleagues to make a better decision and will return to you with the answer.

In the interim, we recommend that you add appropriate patches to denote what "fandom" you are trying to emulate. As of now, you just look like "generic sci-fi soldier". Furthermore, this is a small technicality and should not in any way impede you from enjoying your fandom in the Colonial Marines. :delta:

For the record, the UKCM accepts all costumes (and those with no costume) and there is no arbitrary standard at which your costume becomes legitimate in the eyes of the the UKCM.

and I have been modifying it ever since to make it more film accurate. I have my boots.

My patches are on their way in the mail from patchesnpins.com, and I have been designing my own shuttle/platoon patch. As for my BDU's, I failed at attempting to bleach out a pair, so I've been in contact with Rob Palethorpe, and I'm in line waiting to submit my sizing. :delta:
