The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

I looked all over for this, and couldn't find a response.

I seem to remember somebody posting the bag type awhile

back. ( British Gas-mask / respirator ?)

Looking to work on my airsoft load-out.

I've been using my flecktarn butt pack, and would like to

get a USCM ammo bag instead. Hopefully they are not hard

to find.

Thanks!

Well, I have heard it was a British haversack used for gas masks, but I don't recall seeing a make/model specified.

Harry probably knows. :)

I got a Mussette bag. Not an exact match, but similar enough in size, shape and od.

I've got one, but it's a cordura type material, not the rubberized stuff.
AW, if that's the right one, looks like I'll be putting in an order as well as selling off my present bag.

I have a S10 bag right now, but i also got a S6 comeing my way, willing to give it up when i got my new one if anyone wants it.

imo haveing these bags on your belt is great at cons, u can toss anything u buy into it and not have to worry about looseing it, anouther advantage i found to be the best part....you don't get pics taken of you carrying around a big ass plastic bag...important for the camera whores out there*looks at DOM* :P

Well here's the skinny...

We've always believed it is an S6 Respirator bag.

This is an S6 Respirator bag. (Pic taken from the web- I don't own it ;) )

This is a screengrab from the movie (with the bag highlighted). Notice the additional flap on the bag's cover. Also notice the lack of a button closure (which is clearly seen in the S6 bag picture).

So it's not a typical S6 bag- however the S6 bag is probably the closest available match. Perhaps it is an older bag with a WWII style closure- the type that had a metal eyelet and little fabric belt you inserted it into?

I have an S6 bag which I've used for storing my real tracker parts till i get round to building it LOL

I have a hunch that they simply did what is done regularly in the movies..... add a strap to make it look different and therefore their own.

I managed to hang on to my old S6 respirator.
The early haversacks were canvas - the same as the rest of the '58 webbing and had the same buckle closure (as well as two poppers).
The newer type were cordura nylon with velcro and single popper closure.
Then they were all replaced when the S10 was issued.

Some photo's for you guys.

The old style S6 haversack.
Clearly not the one.

Newer style S6 haversack

At first glance, not quite right.

However.
If I take out the respirator and show you the inside...

This pocket is used to store detector strips, repair kit and puffer bottle.

If we let the lid for this pocket hang outside the haversack....

My pleasure!

I was quite pleased when I discovered that! About 30 minutes ago! lol

From the look of the screen grab it seems that the small nylon "pull loop" just above the popper might have been unstitched at the top, then left to hang down over the popper.
It would explain the apparent lack of popper in the photo and also the apparent extra strap hanging from the main lid on top of the insdie flap.

If we had another screen grab we might be able to confirm.

Thanks for the heads up, I'll check out the extras disc.

I think I'll have to buy a "new" haversack for use as part of my costume.
That one is a bit tatty and discoloured and has my name and number splashed all over it.

I fancy something a little more tidy.

Gareth

Check AW's first post.

They are a company in San Diego.

If you look at the bottom of the page, they offer slightly
blemished ones for 1/2 the price.

Thanks Matt,
I should have read the thread in detail. I tried to order online but after 15 mins of messing with inputting my visa mailing address address, it would not accept the order:( I left voice mail with the general manager indicating my displeasure. Guess I'll have to order using the phone during the work week.

Excellent, Gareth!

That cinches it for me. TKS.

I'm sure it will make a great camera pouch too.

I wonder if they can be found in US surplus stores?

Chris

I've seen them up here, so I don't see why you wouldn't be able to find one Chris. :)

Matter of fact, I passed on one in a local surplus store I frequent often (it was gone when I popped in there today though).

S6 Haversack, Gask Mask Bag, British Haversack are some good examples of title search names
