The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

From a discussion about where you can see characters wearing the wrist unit/ watch in the film. All time codes are for the NTSC Aliens Directors Cut DVD from the Alien Legacy set.

00.30:09 Hudson, dinner table, full face P.M. black band
00.30:13 Hicks, dinner table, full face P.M. O.D. green band
00.30:34 Frost, Dinner table, full face P.M. Black Band
00.33:11 Gorman, Black velcro band, cannot see face.
00.33:16 All marines in hangar group shot wearing full face P.M.'s
00.33:28 Very clear shot of Hudsons' watch, unmod P.M.
00.33:34 Apone wearing PulseMeter
00.33:54-56 Hicks P.M......very clear.
00.34:25 Clear shot of Hudsons' watch, can see Vasquez has one under her glove
00.36:15 Dietrich...P.M.
00.36:17 Gorman and Apone wearing P.M.'s
00.36:44 Ferro...P.M.
00.38:10 Clear shot of Frosts' P.M. as he checks P.R.'s
00.38:56 Clear as a bell shot of face of Hicks P.M., can even read numbers.
00.39:14 Deitrich...black strap P.M.
00.39:17 Two marines from the back, both P.M.'s, both black strap
00.39:24 Frost Handing out weapons as they line up, both he and the hand taking them are wearing P.M.'s
The last entry is as the marines board the APC. I can see no sign of the PDT version before Hicks hands it to Ripley.
This is what I believe from this.
ALL USCM personnel including officers and flight crew are wearing the unmodified Seiko Pulsemeters. They are wearing them when they reach the planet surface.

The PDT may be for using with high value targets such as Ripley to track them.
The USCM probably have subdermal implants like the colonists.
The tracer tube is keyed to the one PDT that Hicks gives Ripley, otherwise it would be confused by the couple of hundred Colonists implants left in the bodies and by the dead Marines.
So for an authentic USCM costume of any kind then a replica or real PulseMeter with unmodified face would seem to be accurate. The PDT version could be worn, but would seem to be superfluous in view of what is seen on screen.
Band color would seem to vary, but personally I would go for an Olive Drab one to keep with the military scheme...

Ripleys Watch (as aopposed to the wrist units)

Ripleys watch is a Seiko Speedmaster 7a28-7000 manufactured in 1983-84. Apparently designed by reknowned Italian designer Giorgetto Giugiaro available in black with yellow buttons and stainless with black buttons.

When you are out of Pulse Rifles, you are out of Weapons!
