The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

Here are a couple of photos of my nearly finished helmet.

This has been the hardest piece to do

I will post more pics when it's finished.

Cheers,

There's that glass male head again. By chance -- where did you get that ?? I last saw one of these at a store in Waikiki, but they refused to tell me where they had ordered it from. It would be way kewl to shoot hat pictures with that clear head form.

Thanks Steve ! I went there often when I'm back Stateside, but managed to completely miss them somehow ...

Course they are probably made in China, but since I'll be looking for these -- I'll probably never find them.

Hi sarge,

I used a blow torch, those things can burn through anything
so it went through that helmet like a hot knife through butter.;)

Neil,

Great work! I have been wanting to do the same. I have a sheet of 16ga aluminium just waiting for me to start. I have a couple of questions for you. What thickness aluminium did you use? What tools did you use to put the fullers (grooves) inthe plates? Any tips for the front plate? Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Mike

Hi Mike,
I used this machine to get the grooved effect on the lobster plates.

it's an edge bending machine, this one belongs to a friend of mine and it is over fifty years old but you can also buy them
new with motor or Manuel but be warned they are not cheap.

The front plate was the hardest piece to do and would take me probably all night to explain haw I did it, I can only say
it has to be heated up but only for a phew seconds then beaten and so on until you have the desired shape.

I used 0,2mm aluminum for the helmet pieces it is quit thin
but when bent into shape it's very strong.

I really would like to explain more but like I said it's a bit hard to explain.
Cheers,
Neil
PS I will try and find the photos from it as I made it and post them here so you can see.
