The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

One more great pic of three commandos while the other two were on the upper level

It's the first time I've noticed the daggers that at least two of the commandos are wearing tucked into their shin guards...

Yes. In your opinion what would you say is the actual colour of the animal control ribbed sleeve material? The film's lighting throws it off so I want to get people's opinion as to what you think the real color is. Can you tell me what you think

I'd say "mid brown/beige/tan/stone". Around Pantone 465/466, but very dirtied so that in spots it looks much darker.

Again, this is a vague memory but I recall reading or hearing somewhere the back back was from a air con of some kinda, so ventilation ducts might be key?

I personally think it's not heated nor bent. I think it's spout work that is placed either at the bottom into the cement or up on top of the roof on the side of a small commercial building

WDI wrote:
EDITED - Only to say that it appears to be a round 45° bend. Heated and squashed in at the sides to make it more rectanglular, with a plate screwed onto it containing some greeblies.

I don't think the backpack came from an air condition. This pics provides more clarity. I believe Simon Atherton built it entirely from scratch minus the duct work. Also, note how the shoulder pauldrons are connected to the backpack. In addition, there appears to be white steadycam-like material build onto the entire backpack where it rests/wraps onto and around the actor's body. Lastly, there is a strap that goes under the back pack, between the legs and is connected at the front to a material-like cod piece.

Funny, you can see how the base of the backpack became dislodged in this scene where Bishops gets hit in the back. The base seems to have popped out of place due to the actors movement. Look closely. :-) Lol

Shouldn't be difficult to fabricate.

So cool. I have a Polish Cold War-era helmet I may try converting into one of these. You've really inspired me!

Thanks retrograde,

The design looks spot on to the "animal" commando film prop. I love how it looks.

I'll be posting all the existing Alien 3 screen cap pics that contain the Weyland Yutani Commandos during the next few weeks. This should complete this thread and make it the best resource. That said, I would appreciate if any members out there could post any new pics (not screen cap related) that have not been already covered in this thread. Thanks all!

I remember seeing picts of the gloves before.

One is metal mesh, other is leather.

Commando pants on display (somewhere in Europe if I recall correctly)

Do you know the exact name of the mesh one? Shark glove?

At first glance they seem to be pretty standard butcher's gloves.
Something like this:

You're referring to the leather glove?

Noble, what's your take on the butcher glove? Do you think that is what it is?

Thanks man! My next project is to build out the costume as accurately as possible....with some help from you guys when needed! Your gaffer tape recommendation is spot on. Thanks to you and Noble for that insight.

Do you know if a white glove was worn under this butcher glove? I can't imagine it was just a bare hand under that steel chain link.
