So I am attempting a "gorman-style" officer build again (sold off my first attempt to Cooper last year) and its going OK. I can't for the life of me find the OG-507 pants in my size that I had the first round...
Anyways I figured I would pass along some new (new to me and this particular thread) reference photos and info.
First up, a much better version of the photo I posted earlier in this thread

(keep in mind that belt was never used on screen. The shaggy haired Gorman in this polaroids would have a few tweaks including addition of name tape to the jacket)
Next a pretty dang good upper body shot from filming of the "Im coming in" scene.

Clearly visibile notes (many already covered in this thread):
-Black Zipper
-"Sheen" to jacket
-Same belt all the other marines used (minus the straps of course)
-Holster with flap folded back and handle forward (he was left handed)
-Name IS on jacket
-My personal belief is it doesn't look like the collar is as tall as an unmodified jacket. My theory is the removal of the jackets zipper/hood system involved the outright cutting the collar short at the hood compartments zipper line. It was then sealed back up and reinforced in it's slightly shorter, zipper-less state. (or so goes my theory)
Next would be his belt. I had read other threads say that Gorman had a "woven" belt on his Service Cs. After grabbing this shot, I think he may have worn the same belt for both his Service Cs and his ODs. Basket weave-imprinted "Garrison Belts" are popular with many police forces and go about $20 online.

Other notes*As mentioned in a previous thread, the OG-106 and OG-507 hats BOTH work perfectly and are functionally identical
*My first attempt at this I used a vintage M65 jacket. This time I am using a new "Austrian" version of the jacket (Cheaper to find in my size and "new" so many times better condition). The differences are below:
-The Austrian jacket has a more defined sheen (it is new, afterall)
-The Austiran jacket has NO velcro!!! The euro-version of this jacket uses old school buttons instead of velcro.
-Plastic (Austrian) vs. metal (vintage) zipper
-Austrian jacket has NO zip-out liner unlike the vintage one that can be lightened by removing the liner. The Austrian one is fairly heavy so that may be a deal breaker for some.
-The epualettes are easier to remove on the vintage jacket. As I recall, they are sewn in a way that they can be cut off right in line with the seam. The Austrian jacket epualette is sewn in such a way that completely removing it compromises the integrity of the sleeve sewing. As such a little nub must remain (hard to describe, i'll try to remember to get a picture).
*DO NOT use/order a 'rothco' replica sight-unseen!!! I think their are 2 versions of replicas out there and at least one of them has top pockets that are TOO SMALL to fit both the Sulaco AND rocker patch. The real vintage and Austrian versions have appropriately sized pockets.
