It's quick and dirty, and my research may be a bit off, but I've uploaded some photos of some of the known originals that are out there in the "Aliens" section here: http://alienscollection.com/props.html Labeled them Alpha, Beta, Gamma, Delta, Epsilon for clarity sake. Feel free to offer suggestions, add and or delete info - thanks! |

Forgive my ignorance But what differentiates the different Pulse Rifles? Am I fair on my assumptions: "Alpha" - Functional Thompson, resin GL "Beta" - Functional Thompson, Dummy GL (deact 870) "Delta" - unsure "Gamma" - FULLY Functional Pulse Rifle |

Nice one Willie! The Comic Con 2009 PR looks to be an Alien3 version painted green though. Oh, and unless you're still uploading images these ones don't seem to load: http://alienscollection.com/pulseriflebeta6.jpg http://alienscollection.com/pulseriflebeta7.jpg http://alienscollection.com/pulseriflebeta8.jpg Harry |

Thanks H. - yeah, that's why I labelled it (A3 repaint), but maybe I should be more clear. BigONE, as for your questions, others are more qualified to answer than me! |

I love how they "completed" the comicon rifle. What is that, black, open cell foam in the GL section? On a related note, have any of the stunt rifles ever shown up? I recall someone in the UK was selling resin casts of them back in 2000-2001, but those castings disappeared and I don't recall ever seeing one of the actual production used stunt rifles pop up. In retrospect, I wish I'd purchased one of the castings back then, but at the time I was after "screen accuracy," not really realizing that the rifle was screen accurate. Not "hero rifle" accurate, but stunt rifle accurate. Russ |

As far as I know foam was put into the grenade launchers of the original 'Aliens' and 'Alien3' PRs. Quote: On a related note, have any of the stunt rifles ever shown up? I know of at least one collector that has one, but to date they haven't shared any clear photos of it. Harry |

I think it's the one that Jim Latta bought which the Icons Pulse Rifle was (very loosely) based on. I'll check now, stand by to see me prove myself wrong! Harry |

FYI Alpha was the unit we used for the HCG patterns. M |

Pretty sure: Delta is the full hero PR in the PSofL. |

Willie Goldman wrote: Harry's correct, this is the former Icons Pulse Rifle. I don't think that you've got it pictured in your list Willie. The Pulse Rifle you've labelled 'Epsilon' is the one that I own. It has a Thompson (now deactivated) with dummy shotgun. There is another to add to the list - the one known as the 'Laurence Nathan' gun. It was assembled from original Aliens components some time prior to Alien 3 and is now with a collector in the US. I know of one other that's claimed to be re-constructed from original components but I've not yet looked at it in person. That makes 7 hero's (possibly 8 ) to my knowledge. |

All this is making my head spin! I wish someone had the exact differences between the PRs. Some of them are hard to differentiate from each other. Anyone have anything? |

Nice Willie! Is that JL holding the Gamma rifle in the 'at auction' pic? Christian |

Yeah, I dunno - this is what confuses me. I'm pretty sure this photo is from Comic-Con in the late 90s at the Icons display booth (note the calipers): BUT, the black vacuform shrouded one here is missing the grenade launcher front block piece - so are they the same? http://alienscollection.com/profilespr.jpg Also, the magazine base appears to be missing on the profiles auctioned one... Anyone know? |

Post subject: | Re: A field guide to original screen used Pulse Rifles |
The Profiles rifle was definitely missing both the front block and mag base piece. If it was previously owned by Icons I guess that the pieces could have been removed from the rifle for recasting / measurement and were subsequently lost. |

Willie, I would put money on it. I worked at Icons. The PR and thoes hands look REALLY FAMILIAR. IIRC the PR that we had was not black shrouded. Christian |

Post subject: | Re: A field guide to original screen used Pulse Rifles |
Christan do you mean you think the Jim Latta PR you had at Icons didn't have the black vac-formed shroud on it? I have a copy of the Icons magazine that featured it and I think it's black in those photos. Harry |

Here are some of my photos... You're welcome to add them to you page. I would suggest a new web page for the PR's on your site. Attachment:

There was a hero PR at Alien War, I have photos of it from Hollywood Hardware. It could have been one of these auctioned PRs. |
