Post subject:  Re: Alien: Resurrection / S:AAB Props and Weaponary

Let's be fair chaps, the thread has been just a little hijacked from Aliens Res weapons to S:AAB. I certainly enjoy both and as Rook pointed out it is on topic for the board but maybe somewhere along the lines we could have changed the title or started a new thread.

Group Hug :D

Philldodilldo, I appreciate the problem you have with the Caps lock but unfortunately you are going to get that question time and again if you can’t fix it. Can we help at all ?

Phill,
I have once seen a replica of one of those rifles but I don't think there's anyone doing these in numbers and/or for sale. So, unless anyone else knows something differend in this matter you'll probably have to do one yourself based on the available images. The only other option I see is to search the differend prop stores.

Sorry for the bad news,
Stefan

LOL
Phil, that's cool then. Perhaps it's because SOLDIERS LIKE TO SHOUT! HOO-AH! ;)

Might be an idea to put it as a sig or something though, so folk understand without having to ask.

I'm sure this is based on an UZI, but I've just got a mini and standard UZI springers from Taiwan and although the mini looks the closest I assume the trigger guard needs to be fabricated - also the barrel silencer attachment part seems too far away from the trigger to be a mini UZI, I assume they just extended the barrel a little? The magazine looks to be definately UZI - in fact a completely standard magazine. :)

The shoulder stock looks very uncomfortable, I don't plan to use any metal - do you think plastic sheet would be strong enough?

Do you think this is based on an UZI as well? Although I have no plans to build this as I think it looks crap!

I think the second weapon is based on any bit of junk they found lying around the studio.;)

The spring part reminds me of something that I just can't quite place... a spring-loaded toy or something I had as a kid? This is going to kill me. I swear I've seen that rod with the spring on the outside before.

I know of someone working on a Vriess/Call gun (no, not the common and frequently recasted "Auriga Pistol" seen above). If we can get enough people together, maybe we can get him to up his production schedule.

don't think anyone has casted those weapons but by the look of them couldn't you just go into a hardware store buy a couple of pipes haphazardly put them together, attach a grip and get the same weapon?

Post subject:  Re: Alien: Resurrection Weaponary

Hey Guys,

I recently purchased a Lacrima 99 (I think that is the name of it) Shock Rifle from an auction that was built for Alien Resurrection. I am referring to the silver rifle. I believe it was also used in the movie, however, at this point I can't confirm with 100% certainty. However, it does have studio blood on it.

The one I have happens to be the same one in the Alien Resurrection book that was published about how they made the movie.

The prop is very cool and has a working front spot light on it. It also has other working features like a counter. I believe these other gadgets are powered by rechargeable batteries and I am trying to do more research.

The prop is extremely well made from resin, & machined and stamped aluminum parts.

It is very obvious that it is all custom built and not built from an UZI or other gun. The clip is made out of wood. I have taken pictures with my digital camera, but I have not loaded them on my computer yet.

I plan on doing that this week. If someone can host the pictures I would be glad to post them.

Also, any other photos that anyone can provide would be greatly appreciated. I really want the photo on Disk 8 that shows the concept drawing of this rifle.

Let me know if you have questions.

I'd be more than happy to host pix - email them to me,

mel@milmanuals.com and I'll have them up in a few minutes.

If this is the rifle from the PIM auction then surely it's the Auriga? :)
