The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

Post subject: The M40 Grenade Box (Was it painted?)
PostPosted: Tue Mar 02, 2004 1:37 pm
The box I have is a green-ish molded plastic.

I'm just curious if anyone knows if the one used in the finale of the film was actually painted green, or left "in the raw."

Thanks,

Rook

Hello Rook

The original boxes were red molded plastic and then painted
besbrown for the film.

Cheers,

Mine was molded in OD green, I left it alone. Slapped on the stickers and called it done.

That's what I did. :) After looking at a screen cap of the film again, I decided to not even buff the letters or embossed square off the top of the box.

Looks pretty dang nice. Finally I've finished another prop. :)

Marine corps bakers dozen?

Tommin, did you notice your letters are slightly larger than those used in the film?

Still, looks pretty dang nice!

Not sure, Ripper. Maybe it's because I am usually a few cards shy of a full deck? :D

Thanks, Rook and good eye. You're right. My letters appear to be more of a bold font than the screen used version. I'll have to scope out some screen captures again and see if I can fix that. ;)

No...a few cards short of a full house!! hahaha...eh never mind.

Back on topic, check out Jeff Allens way he measured the compass box of Jack Sparrow. He took a measure of his thumb, and took it against Jack's (it should be pretty close) then gridded it and measured.
Pretty ingenious if you know how big the Grenade box is.
