The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

Hello all, I just wanted to show off a recent project that is actually relative to this board.

As I said in another thread, I had been working on machineing a nice size batch of PR grenades for a few friends and myself. And thanks to the great information I got here about the correct size boxes of 25 and where to get them, I thought it might be neat to load up one for the bigger boxes of grenades for a great breath taking effect. And was passed on the idea that is would be a good way to store them too while I had them. So I decided to convert an older metal ammo box I had lying around and use that for storage and display.

And a close up of the Grenade. I was able to scale off of a copy of a screen used grenade and compared that to the measurements of a real 12 gauge shell so as to get this thing nailed down pretty damn close. And I also scaled a few really great screen caps to double-check everything. I ended up going with a solid static grenade for now and skipped the angled knurled detail to cut down on cost and machine time. But I did go ahead and machine and press fit in what I believe is the correct size primer (brass plug) in the back end so as to not skimp on too much detail and still keep them relatively inexpensive for myself.

Thanks for letting me show off a fun project,
Ken

caplugs SC 5/8 is what I used on mine.
I have a TON of them at home. Email me and I can hook you up with some. To get them directly from caplpugs you have to order about 1000-1500 minimum.

FACT: REAL screen Used grenades do not have ANY writing on the base. This is simply an authentic looking "feature" from a seller of replica grenades. I like it and it serves to show the item is a replica.

The lack of base writiing was confirmed by examination of a UK based collectors original screen used grenades.

FACT: The grenades seen on e-bay all the time and sold as screen used are not. You will know them by a rusty steel appearance and a red and white painted cap with a central machined groove. They may have been prototypes of some kind but they were never used on scren as far as can be determined.

Cheers

Tony
