All the filling and sanding is finished and the last two coats of matt black is on. Now its time for the BB in a sort of cloud effect, which is going to be fun, and then I'll be getting on with the front part and lastly the tank.

Got the final paint job done so the main body is finished. Now I’m going to get on with the front piece and the tank.

Got started on the muzzle break which is made from 4mm aluminium plate. Still got to get the slots cleaned up a bit, get it polished up, add all the other parts then I'll be cutting it in half down the middle for ease of fitting.

It's a slow process but I'm getting there.

All the Screws, nooks and crannies are going to be filled with aluminium easy weld and then I'll be cutting it in half.
Still got to get the spacer-plate done which goes between the barrel and igniter which holds the flash-hider in place.

It's certainly a pain in the butt getting the muzzle break done, but I'm getting there slowly.

It's just test fitted at the Moment, just so I can see where certain adjustments have to be made; this is why it looks a bit off-centre.

Its not 100% film-accurate but it's the nearest I could get it.

So the flash-hider or flame-hider is basically finished.

I cut a small aluminium disc, put some holes in it and just glued it in so it looks something like a burner to ignite the flame. I'll be getting it painted at the weekend and fixed in.

The main flame unit is finally finished after three months of building. The next step is getting the tank finished, which I'm not quite sure how to start, but I'll sort it out somehow.

Well it's funny you should mention that because it did actually fall off my work bench, but nothing happened apart from some chipped off paint, but I can live with that.

Post subject:  Re: M240 Flamethrower

So I got the tank finished.

The main body for the tank is an aluminium pipe 34cm long, 28.7cm in width and 4mm thick.

I used a sleeping mat for the top and bottom, and just wrapped fibreglass around it. After that I used a aluminium body filler to smooth everything out.

I did all the ribbing with plastic strips 5mm in width 4mm high and 4mm apart from one another.

For the top I used a plastic funnel because I just couldn't find anything with the right dimensions out of metal. The ribbing on the funnel is brass from a local model shop 5mm in width and 1.05mm in height.

I used 1.05mm aluminium plate for the bottom plate and hammered out the rounded bottom.

Post subject:  Re: M240 Flamethrower

So after five months of building, the flamethrower is finished.

It was a fun build, but sometimes very nerve-wracking, other than that I really don't know what to say about it apart from that I'm happy that it's finished.

Now I just have to build a stand for it.

Thank you to everyone for the kind words, they are all much appreciated.

I would like to take the opportunity to say a really big thank you to Stefan Otto AKA Bug Stomper for his amazing help with this Project. Without his knowledge and help it would have been much harder.

Thank you.

Awesome work. That threaded coupling on top of the tank is a nice touch and a practical solution for transport. How heavy is the final version (flamethrower and tank combined)?
