Trying to catch up on some updates! I've made a fair bit of progress since these shots were taken, but I'm trying to document the whole process and not just skip to the end.

So here's how the left side is progressing, including a donor piece from the back of the old Kenner Millennium Falcon! I've long since lost the ship, but I kept the greeblie panels and landing legs for projects. Obviously the bottom of the flame unit hasn't been finished in these pictures.

The right side gets some love too. I use the plastic from DVD cases as I have a ton of them lying around (I used to work in a video store).

The rectangle near the carry handle is made out of the edge of a DVD case, which I then finished off with putty.

So as promised, here's some more paint and putty. The bottom is now sealed up, it just needs to be sanded and painted.

Each time I paint it I find more spots that need a bit of help. Of course the painting then makes it more tricky to putty and repaint, but I'm getting down to the very end of this damned thing. The real trick is just getting it all to look unified and on purpose.

Oh, the trigger isn't attached in these photos, it's just hanging by its springs. I'd temporarily put a roofing nail through the drilled holes, but I need to finish it off for real.

So exactly one year after I first held the stunt flame thrower (and caught the bug) I went back with my finished* USCM M240 Incinerator Unit.

*There are a few things I still need to tweak. The ridges on the top of the fuel tank (train tracks on the original and zip ties on mine) keep breaking off. I may need to somehow pin them on... Also I'm getting some separation on the fuel tank where the tapered part (i.e. the upside down funnel) meets the tube. I can try filling the gap but I'm worried it's pointing to a more serious problem. We'll see!

Other than that I'd say I really just needed to step away from this for a little bit to get some perspective. I was surprised at how close to being done it really was! I'll post a few more pictures when I have everything sorted, but I have to say it feels fantastic to have this build done.

Guys, I couldn't pass this up! For five dollars I have most of the makings for a child sized flame thrower for my kiddo!

I have a leftover handle piece from my fullsized build that I will use to replace the handle and trigger on this squirt gun, and I have an idea for a piece to use to modify the tip as well. Beyond that it will mostly be securing it all together, adding a few greeblies and getting it all painted! I expect this to get some rough use so I won't do anything that can't stand up to a seven-year-old's enthusiasm.

Dude, I think I saw that recently at a local store. It never occured to me, but now I MUST build one!!!

My son has been complaining I haven't built him anything in a while (spoiled I tells ya!!!). I just gotta remember where the heck I saw it...

Hah, thanks for the offer, while my impulse did jump, I have too many toy guns in my "armoury" as it is, Bigbisont covered me for my PR build. The rest I have to scavenge from various shotgun toys or fabricate via 3D printing.

I've been dubbed the family "demon adult child".

I should start looking in to arming up my nephew though, we caught the end battle of Aliens together recently. He's almost ready for the full experience!
