The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

Anyone planning on going? I know most of what goes on here is Aliens related, but surely a few Marines would be accepted?

Veronica Cartwright is supposed to be there.

I think he was just providing the basic con information for others who may be interested

We'll see about that. Let's see if Farpoint makes me so poor that I have to send Abe out on to the street hunting for wildlife and tramps for us to eat.

Also, TBH, I'm secretly terrified of meeting Tom Woodruff Jr with my ropey recast Alien ...

I'm thinking about going, but the only related costume I have is a dropship pilot.
This isn't a big costume type of convention. Don't really want to take it if I'll get the stink-eye, or if I'll be the only one there representing Aliens.

I wouldn't worry about that. Dressing up isn't illegal! Most UK conventions aren't "costuming conventions" and the only ones where there are significant numbers of costumers outside of the UKCM/UKG etc are animé cons.

That said, it would be financially insane for me. I'd like to meet Bob Burns and Veronica Cartwright (and even Woodruff) more than anything but unless it was going to be more than a brief encounter over a signing table (ooo err misses...) I wouldn't say it would be worth it. We'll see ...

I guess it would be hard to get a number of AL guys there to attend the con "officially"? ;)

DSB, I'm tentative right now.

I only heard about this last night (totally missed the thread before) and would love to go.
it all depends on funds after the move and it is a LONG drive.

If a group from OKC go then I'll come along with my armor....but if its just me I don't think it would be financially viable.

The great thing though is that this is a model makers convention but of course costumes are welcome like any convention.
Chris's APC would be the star attraction if it could attend.

I am tentative as well, just working out the details with my wife.

I'm pretty sure we can do it, just have to make a decision one way or another.

I'm gonna try and get to this. I might try and plan a vacation around it.

However, I'll be bringing Abe ... yes, if there is a Hotel Bar then Abe will be there with a straw!

I have received a reply from Dave Conover from Wonderfest.

He is VERY keen to have Marines and Aliens attend the show and perform duties including escorting the guests into panels and to provide atmosphere. This includes a cinema showing of ALIEN on the Saturday night and a themed dinner with the guests on the Sunday night.

So, who's with MEEEEEEEEEE? :xeno:

Cpl Tony is tentatively on the Ready Line, and Stephen210 and Rich (RICHES ARMOR) were already attending with their Alien spacesuits (they're even mentioned on the Con website!).

My plan is to fly into Dallas, hire a large sedan or minivan depending on numbers and then go via Oklahoma then onwards to Loiusville (probably via St Louis). Who wants a ride?

Are you serious? They want people in Aliens costumes? Cool!

And I just happen to be a few hours from St. Louis.

Actually, he says that they already have a couple of other USCM costumers due to attend (anyone here?). And, with Woodruff and Pat McClung guesting, it has become more than just ALIEN-related!

Yup. Google Maps is giving me a route that goes through St Louis for the trip from Oklahoma to Louisville. I'll reserve a place in the APC for ya, Bob! Closer to the time, get in touch with your address and we can work out if we can pick you up or meet you halfway closer to our route.

I've booked one room in the convention hotel. It's a room with two queen beds for up to four people. I'm happy with four to a room with sleeping on the floor etc.

Check in: Friday 15th May
Check out: Monday 18th May

3 nights at $96 + tax = 3 nights at ~$110.41 per night = ~$331.23 for the room in total.

So, who wants a space in this room?

  1. Pug50
  2. Cpl Tony (?)
  3. DSB (?)
  4. ?

Bear in mind that Abe has awful BO; a bit like a cross between the smell of human sweat and latex. He's content with sleeping in his basket on the floor however ...

Yep, that (?) can go!!
I'm there!!
Still waiting for final 'yay' or 'nay' from Rick and Austin here.
Not sure if Cherie will want to take the drive or not.....but she went to see NTOKB the other week so this is my 'boys weekend away'!!!!

As for the others going.....I'm sure they are referring to Richie and Steve with the Alien suit.

I'm not sure - he mentioned Steve, Richie and the ALIEN spacesuit in the previous sentence of the email. He then referred to "USCM Marines".
