The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

Guys..this is Atlanta....no one pays attention to the forecast, It was supposed to be sunny all week this week with NO chance of rain in sight, even from the storm in Florida....guess what though. It rained last night.

OK in the five years I've attended D-Con we have always had sunny skies the morning of the parade. It hasn't even been cloudy once.

Not once.

The way it works is this (and this is from the parade directors- not me)

Sunny - we march
Sunny and windy - we march
Overcast - we march
Overcast and windy - we march
Misting/drizzling - we march
Steady rain - the parade staff will be at the park just in case someone shows up...
Downpours - no parade
Thunderstorms - are you kidding, I'm getting back into bed!

For us- if it is raining we can play it by ear. If no one wants to march given a little rain, so be it. (shrugs shoulders :) )

Quite frankly I'm getting sick of all the weather predictions (and part of my lack of patience is due to the same thing happening every year--- "Oh it's gonna rain on our parade" ).

The weather is one of the most difficult things to predict given it's fluidic state. A weather forecaster would probably do a better job predicting the lottery numbers.

The weather only has to be clear for about two hours on Saturday morning. :)

Let's just wait and see and think positive shall we? Image

We will hold the parade no matter what.

Even if we are the only group for we are Marines , getting wet doesn't scare us.

I would be careful in the rain if I were you guys...

Sparmor is made with a "Rice Paper/Styrene" hybrid plastic. The paints I use are all water based and not sealed, and the straps are actually just a mat of Sea Monkeys (freeze dried Brine Shrimp) pressed into a strap looking material.

Too much water on the suits and you'll be a gooey, sea monkey habitat just waiting for the seagulls to find you!

The only thing that would concern me with moderate to heavy rain would be water possibly getting into my video camera while filming the parade with you guys. Other than that, meh. :P

Cloudy or overcast might be nice to keep the heat down.

I've marched in the pouring rain before, I'll do it again.

If it is a downpour the parade will officially be cancelled by D-Con. We won't exactly be able to march down Peachtree St with it being open to city traffic.

Nobody will be out there to watch us anyway.

Some rain won't bother me too much other than the fact I will be in a dress uniform rather than being geared up.

I doubt any of the stars will put up with any amount of rainfall though.

I don't think us Brits will mind doing the parade in the rain - we're pretty used to the stuff of course! :)
