The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

Who were the victims . . . er . . . bugs for past colony sweeps?

Who did you hunt last year and are they on this board?

Well... There have only been two previous sweeps. Both were in Atlanta GA at D-Con.

First year (2005) we went through the Marriott, the passageway of the adjoining hotels, and wound up in the food court. We pulled a facehugger out of a trash bin in the food court (the old rabbit out of a hat trick). That was the big climax.

Second year we had a guy dressed as a bug meet us in the lobby of the Hyatt (where our sweep ended). We got there first, and he showed up five minutes later.

So we basically just did a photo-op with him in the middle. We didn't really "hunt" him (I think most of us didn't know if he was going to be there or not).

So it wasn't terribly co-ordinated. This year's D-Con sweep should be much better. A blend I think of the methodical search we did in '05, with a better scripted confrontation/ending than the Polaris sweep.

(And yeah- no aggressive contact with the Xeno  ).

EDIT: Oh I almost forgot- the Xeno in '06 was a member on the old board: Loki something.

Kevvvvvv, you forgot some details bro! Out the Marriott, setting up a perimeter (at the traffic light) down the street, checking out the entry bays into the Hyatt, then running up that damn hill!! WTF was that all about still?! :P

Then bursting into the Hyatt lobby, setting up a perimeter while Dom barked out orders, it was awesome!

This year, yes, we need to be more co-ordinated, more scripted.

Not quite as fast too, it was at such a hurried pace. More of a CQB style (yeah, I know I'm referencing DZC again...) leap frogging, etc.

We'll plan it, say Friday night at Dinner? At Hard Rock Cafe again?

Heck, we'll probably be planning it for the next several weeks!!
  8)

WAAAAAAAY too much information for me there Mike. :P

I noticed when we did the Polaris sweep that there always seems to be this sense of urgency- that we have to quicken our pace. One person gets going a bit and it becomes contagious. Then it snowballs and we all end up at a semi run.

Really it just stems from getting caught up in the moment. We have to consciously make the effort to go slow.

Really have to go over the "entering the colony" sequence- when the marines deploy from the APC.

Boy do I ever sound all military like.

And I'd love to do the "door bypass" this time around (even if we fake it with any door- and have to find "another way in" when it won't open).

So there have only been three colony sweeps so far ?
I have been part of two of them then.
Makes me feel kinda warm and fuzzy.
I guess another way to look at it is that outside of the US, Canada has done the first colony sweep.
Way to go UACM !!
