The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

Hey all!

Along with the schedual of events, I thought we should post a volunteer list for manning the base (fan table). Let's make sure we give a little covering fire to each other so that everyone gets some recon at DC.

I believe the table should be manned from 10-5 Fri-Mon?

With the exception of Saturday morning when we all abandon the base for a little stroll.

Just post when you'll most likely be able to guard the table from hostile invasion and I'll update the list below.

If there are enough of us to form squads we can perform recon missions and check out some of the other bases and inhabitants.

I can help out Fri-Sat Sunday morn, I'll be manning the SGC table. Monday morn I fly out.

Rook. Can I get this stickyas well till after the con? Thanks!

Friday:
Tony 10-5
Dave 3-5
Saturday:
Dave after the parade -5
Tony ?-5
Dom?
Rex?
TC?
Noland?
Sunday:

I don't know my schedule either, but I'm sure my brother and I can chill for a couple hours here and there when needed. I have manned many a table at many a convention.

Anyway, count me in.

I'll probably spend most of my time at the table anyways... so you can count on me.

OK, Jesse is sending me the stuff for the table, so, is there anyone at the con I need to speak with about showing up early to set it up? Is there someone to call, or a place to register in the lobby??

I'll be picking up my badge Thursday night so i can ask around then or we can meet at the Hyatt Bar and go from there.

Last year we reserved the table by putting a piece of paper on it, they didn't like that so ASAP we need to get in there and nab it.

In the Marriott where the fan tables are- just ask around for the guy in charge of the tables (there should be a D-Con info booth set up). He will be walking around with a clipboard. At least that's how it's been in past years.

Once we have our table assigned- it is mandatory that it be manned at all times until the end of the day (6pm-ish). You run the risk of forfeiting the table if it is left unmanned for any length of time. So if you are early to set up (10am 11am?) you are stuck there until relief arrives. Just a heads up. ;)

Well I'm not one to leave a table alone anyway, but I'm not going to be in a costume as a marine. I can wear some of my weyland yutani stuff though.

How structured do we want this to be guys? Do we want to make a schedule for shifts, or how about a cell phone list and when you're ready to go you just ring one of the other marines and see who's willing to watch the table for a spell?

How do you guys usually do this, seat of the pants style, or is there a method to the madness?? :)

I'm comfortable with either. hahahaha

Last year it was madness... Seemed to work. So probably will be the same. ;) I just figured I'd at least motivate some people to hang out as a few of the "usual suspects" won't be attending this year.

"Ride em ruff and fly by the seats of our pants." Should be our DCON motto. But not if we have to sit next to the same table as last year... LOL! j/k

75% of the time were hangin at the table anyway..so Im sure it will never be unmanned...

and Dave, lets hope were NOT next to last years "queens"...

I had the displeasure of attending a room party they threw at a small con a few months ago..as soon as I walked in, I saw some rainbow bracelets...when I read them, it had the same name as the group next to us last year....thats when I looked up and saw three "queens" on the bed rubbing each others legs, I got the heck outta dodge...

K, guys, my thoughts;

The early bird gets the worm/Fan Table. Anyone there early runs the FT facilitator down. Likely, it will be someone with a clipboard. I think it pays to be all smiles, polite and patient. He/She finds USCMs on the list and, judging from past experience, we get to pick a table. One year I made it a point to be there at 7:30/very early and snagged the table (one of two) by the art room/exhibit room. Location, location, location; lots of room, no crowding/as in adjacent to an aisle, and a great backdrop for PO. If the guys next door bail (as before) we double the display area, and that year we used it to full advantage. Electricity; I was told by the fellow that set us up for power last year that the tables by the art room could not be rigged for power (I saw an outlet, though). If battery supply is an option we may be able to snag a very good FT area. If not I guess we get the squeeze again. Squeeze? I don't mind so long as mine is not a male.

VBR,
Chris

I'm shipping my secondary banner (I've bloody well lost the primary one, the one that had grommets) to Noeland today, along with auction items and business cards. The banner should be taped with gaffers tape (SO SOMEBODY BRING SOME! :) ) along the white portion of the border so the images don't get hosed too bad. The tape doesn't peel very well from this banner. Was going to have an updated one (with the Legacy logo) made, but just didn't have the time.

Tony, you keep the stick of biz cards that I'm sending for cons out on that side of the coast. I've got another stick of 'em that I'll keep for SiliCon and next years west coast cons. And either you or somebody else should be responsible for the banner and pull it each night. And of course ship it back to me after the con :D

Have fun guys! I'm gonna' miss ya' :(

We're gonna miss you too Jesse! :(

I'll be bringing my USCM recruitment forms (I still have a stack of about 250 or so).

As for table-time, when I'm geared up- I'll be hanging out at the table (with the exception of eating and milling about the Con occasionally).

I'm bringing two other costumes (the usual Jedi & WOK Kirk) but I will probably be wearing those in the evening after 6pm. ;)

I'll be there as early as they will let me in, does anyone know when that is?

I will take responsibility for the banner, and any other items that need to be pulled every night and set back up every morning, and keep them with me as if they were my own. I will also return ship them to you Jesse.

Jesse, really wish you could be here. That goes for everyone who's missing this year!

Appreciate the biz cards Jesse.........I'll make sure to leave a nice stack next the hookers cards ;)
I KID I KID!!!

Noeland beat me to it with the banner so I'll be back up just incase - not that Noeland is not reliable of course!!

I just received via express overnight trans atlantic delivery one of the rarest non-screen used items from the movie Aliens ever. Not from eBay, not from a trade for my internal organs. Yes, you will drool over this one I guarantee.
I recently found out about this and just had to get them. Not many were made - EVER. Now I know why.

I shall donate it to the raffle so good luck all.

Hey guys,

Sorry I've not been in contact with you all recently. I had my house fumigated and my uncles's pad had no internet and lots of old people

Anyway, I will provide a camo table top, a set of speakers and a CD-R that Tony can play with all of the movie trailers & fan films for the fan table.

I won't be manning the table this year as I really want to see what the con is all about. However, I'll be geared up for the parade and some nightlife "perimeter sweeps" you grunts want to partake in.

I will be there Thursday night.

I look forward to seeing you all there.

Tony it's probably better for you to keep the banner with you while the the show is going on, and after the show I'll ship it back to Jesse. Is that Ok? That way it's right there in the hotel and I won't forget it at my house. :)

I got the stuff today by the way, and everything came though fine. I didn't open the tube though, just figure it's best to leave it until the show.

Unfortunately I cannot find the Weyland Yutani costumes we made for our fan film. They're just simple white button up dress shirts, but still they had the WY patches on them. So I don't even have that to wear! :(

But I will still be around to man the table if/when needed.
