The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

Knoxville has a group that supports and enables young inventors, tinkerers and costumers to have access to full fabrication facilities from 3-d printing to welding metal to laser cutting.

I talked with the group manager and they would be fine with a quarterly or other periodic meetup there to discuss our craft and how to build/make things or make them better.

website: http://knoxmakers.org

If we have a meeting there one paying member has to be present.
Membership is 50/month.

I am throwing this one out there as we need to try and get some local meetups established to help the group grow and exchange information more easily.

Thoughts anyone?

Is anyone on this forum in the Knoxville, TN or outlaying areas as I am, and if so are you interested in attending a free event?

The following was emailed to knoxmakers to start the process of getting a quarterly meetup setup.

OK, the October fan table was a resounding success. Everyone seemed OK with a quarterly cosplay making meetup. We have folks all over the world so I would like to know what options we have to stream or record the presentation.

Due to the distant expertese with some costume pieces I may play some short videos explaining different parts.

I think an hour presentation followed by a Q&A would work.

I would like to ask what pieces you want covered first:
Xenomorph costume
Predator costume
Colonial marine:
Smart Gunner
Grunt
Medic
Admin/Officer
Civilian

Weapons:
M56
Pulse Rifle
Flame Thrower
Grenades
Plasma Cannon (Predator) <-- I am still struggling to get this piece working with a WII nunchuck
Blade Gauntlet (Predator)
Head moving parts on Xenomorph

Props:
Facehugger
Facehugger tube
Marine armor and electronics
Streaming cameras
Sound kits
Motion Tracker
Motion tracker electronics
Lego sets
Background pieces

There is a huge amount so there is plenty of information to cover so each meeting would definately be unique.

It will be on a Wednesday night.

Now for the first segment what would everyone like to see covered?

Bear in mind I have one hour.

I will have to get with our Xeno and Predator costumers to see how much time I have to devote to costume building information from them at a later meeting.

I will have to find a local sponsor from the group. I have sufficient facilities to build my stuff at home. A minor detail and one easily met.

Once I get answers on what everyone wants covered, I can do a test run and post on my youtube channel. I will require critiques to see what you all want improved.

I will dress up for the test runs in my joker costume.

Now I will add, in my experiences studying the tax protestor movement or as I like to call it the: Pay-Me-Try-Idiot movement, I will avoid and not make any profit on anything. The moment you start making a profit regardless of source or allowance you invite the possibility of legal action against yourself. That does not mean I will not help build or assemble in whole or part pieces for a costume, but I can't chance things charging for a service as it were. I also have issues with usury.
If any one or more than one person wants to meet up for a help session we can schedule that at some point as well. And such a help session I would like to try and stream to Facebook and archive to youtube.

Date TBD
