The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

After checking out the charter page, I know there are members out here in, and around the Los Angeles area. My question is if California already has it's own battalion already? Furthermore, if there are already pre established regiments or platoons WITHIN, or NEAR the Los Angeles County area? :delta:

Actually after checking the charter page, I found another member who out ranks him.

•name: Gwen Beale
•location: Novato, California United States
•rank: Captain
•number: A01/TQ1.0.02128E1
•callsign: Angel

Unless she has moved out of state? :delta:

Well first off, do we even have an existing Battalion of our own, because we DO have a number of members who reside in this state. I counted 21 on the charter page alone, and I'm sure there are plenty more listed on this page. I have a shuttle patch I started to design just in case there isn't yet one already in existence. I based most of it on our own state history. I've already done the research. About the only thing preventing me from finishing it is the lack of info about our own battalion and regimental numbers. :delta:

We have quite a few members in the CA area. Rex is the most senior active member in the area. We have a few peeps in the LA area, but not all of them are USCM members.

I'd like to help get a new battalion started out here in California, and I'm wondering if Rex Adams would like to take lead in it? I've been designing a battalion/ regimental patch, and I have a Facebook on standby. I just rather be locally attached, as opposed to distantly attached to a unit that's based across the country, or anywhere else for that matter. :delta:

Well, it's been about a month and still no reply yet, so I might have to move down the list to the next highest rank in California.

Again, rank is a formality here. Just because someone states they are a captain, doesn't mean they are a captain. The only rank we have is member

I wasn't referring to the captain actually. I don't think Rex is interested, so I'm seeing who's the next highest ranking member in California. I'm choosing to go down the list by rank because I'd rather exhaust my efforts at finding someone with experience attending events and etc. to take charge organizing a California chapter first before I'd ever personally step up to the plate myself. As of now I'm just a grunt. :delta:

Rank doesn't necessarily mean they have experience attending events, etc. It's not awarded here, it's made up so in theory a member with the rank of private may have more experience than one with a higher rank.

Well, I'm not assuming rank and experience correlates. Only that I'm looking for someone more experienced than myself to take lead, and if that's gonna happen, I'd prefer to maintain SOME sort of canon uniformed rank effect. In effect, I'm searching for both experience AND senior rank. I get that none of this is real, but we ARE portraying a fictional military presence, and in doing so, I want someone with BOTH rank AND experience. I personally have only been fortunate to ever make it out to one sci fi event ever in my lifetime, and unfortunately had to miss out on wonder-con this year. I'd rather follow someone elses lead if there is someone willing to lead out here in Cali? :delta:

This is the patch I designed for California's Battalion for those who'd like to join. The breakdown of the patch is as follows:

1.)The bear is from our state flag which was modeled after the last grizzly bear captured in Ventura county, and kept in captivity til it died in 1911. It's name was Monarch, hence the call name "MONARCHS".

2.)The batallion Frigate "U.S.S. Freemont" is named after the commander of the first ever U.S.navy/ marine presence in California

3.)The battalion number "9" is in tribute to the date September 9th 1850, when California was granted statehood.

4.)The regimental number "31" is in tribute to the number of our state as in order of granted statehood. :delta:

That's, more or less, how we came up with the name, logo and Battalion/Regiment designations for our local unit, USS Columbia.

Here in CA we don't have any formal regiment, but we do meet up for a con every once in a while. We like having it informal because we have people that come to CA just for cons. Planning things here is more by consensus, not rank.

Well, I personally have no issues with that. This group is for those who might feel otherwise. Everyone's entitled to their own prerogative as long as it has no negative effects on others. :) :delta:

Looks like you've done quite a bit of work on this. I've got an extremely busy work schedule, feel free to PM me if you've got questions, thoughts or want me to check out the thread. :)

I appreciate that Rex Adams. I welcome any advice or otherwise you have to offer. :) As of now, I'm still waiting for one potential member/ potential smart gunner to acquire his service numbers. Aside from that, and as of now, the 31st Monarchs are almost up to a squad. 8) :delta:

Now if our battalion/ ship patch can be recognized on the registry? I've been doing the best I can to make sure any and all members who DO decide to join us have their service numbers first to help provide legitimacy to our unit. :delta:

If you would like to enjoy legitimacy, might I recommend having a group with armour and or uniforms?
