I had difficulty trying to find a place to put a mount. Let me know what you come up with, I'll probably copycat you!

On the topic of the poll: it's actually a *lot* closer than I expected it would be. I may end up asking the "Either One" voters to pick a side. If there are any among us who are not going to be interested in participating at all if it's one or the other, please speak up as to why. That's feedback I need to hear.

We could carry on to the SunTrust building after the sweep for our own photos.

I thought they said no the last time we asked for permission to do so?

In which way?

A live action romp would eliminate the relatively old and decidedly too young from my group. I believe we'd still get a solid turnout from our middle aged if we go live action. Don't sweat it though, of course there is nothing to stop us from doing our own photo shoot after or before with everyone

Or vice versa, doing the main sweep as an organized photoshoot, and a separate "live action romp" at a later time for those who want it. Whole point of the poll is to get a feel for what people in the group want to get out of the Sweep, in order to balance that with the changing landscape of the Con.

True, but I think the key selling point of the live sweep is the alien creatures. Chasing them and then ultimately being killed by them is the entire point. A photo shoot loses that and whoever free lances their own sweep without any creatures in their group won't get the full effect. That is why I prefer I live sweep. But ..a standard shoot is easier.

Well, you still get that feel in a photoshoot, it's just one picture at a time xD. Rex's shoot is a good example. I totally get what you're saying, though.

standard shoot would get more non AL members to come. i've already got non AL members asking if we are hosting a shoot because of the 30th anniversary.

I must admit, I like the idea of a structured photoshoot better. Mainly down to the crowds at DCon these days.

That's what prompted the suggestion. I'm just not keen to make the change without knowing how the people who plan to attend would feel about it.

If the majority still want to do it "live action" then that is what we'll do; but unless Dragon*Con makes good on their promises to start capping attendance soon, if the crowds keep growing at this rate we may end up having our hand forced regardless of what people would rather do.

Just a heads up, I don't see well in the xeno so I may need a chaperone/handler. This is my first sweep so I am a newbie on what is needed.

Likely only 2 in for a 'classic' sweep, but there will be more of us on site for the photo portion off to the side/after.

As the only xeno that was on the list I feel awful backing out (and a 2nd year in a row something comes up to mess up my builds) but I can't do much about it. My polyester resin is just taking way too long to cure in this humidity and to prevent myself from sticking to everything like flypaper, and from rushing the build 10 months in, I'm just going to have to baby the props a little while longer.

Next year it is! Unless a meteor strikes or I get the plague to add another year to missed sweeps :P

No worries! Better to get it right than to rush things!

Okay, so, it's the week of the convention and the vote is still very close. So, I have a plan in the works that will be a combination of the two. I think it's something that everyone will enjoy, and will be able to adapt to the crowds we're expecting.

We've got enough bodies for two good sized fire teams. I need a couple of non-Smartgunner Marines to roger up as Squad Leaders. Keep in mind that Squad Leads are responsible for knowing the "script" and therefore need to be present for a dry run before the actual sweep, so only volunteer if you're sure you can be there.

GET PUMPED, MARINES! :delta:

Meet up time has been moved to 15:30 to make sure everyone has time to rest up from the parade, get lunch, change, etc. We will be stepping off from the front entrance (then north side) of the Hyatt at 15:30 sharp.

The dry run will meet at the USCM fan table at 13:00.

Also, I have created Facebook events for both the dry run and the Sweep itself. Please contact myself or Tony Bassi if you would like to be invited to either event for a reminder.
