The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

HERE IS THE BANNER!!.

YOU GUYS ARE AWESOME! DONATIONS HAVE NEARED TOTAL COST! PLEASE STOP ANY DONATIONS! THANK YOU CONTRIBUTORS!

Total cost was $130. I covered the cost of the pole. I would sincerely like to thank those who made this possible. Your efforts and generosity is much appreciated by me and the AL community. It's because of the dedication of our members that we are among the best of costuming groups. I'm honored to serve with all of you.

Paul now has the banner.

Don't really remember the banner, but we have a banner. It's at the top of the form. It is who we are.

We might want to also see about multiple banner pricing. If it's not too much different units of Marines might want one when they go to local cons. Having members at cons all around showing off the same Aliens Legacy banner would defiantly help it become more recognized. Also maybe a membership flyer as to who we are that we can print and take to local cons.

Just my 6 cents (inflation)

That's a good idea. Recruitment flyers for the usmc would be awesome! Join the corp go to foreign lands and kill xenomorphs! I love the corp.

Would there just be the one for dragoncon or multiples like one or two for the US, one for the UK and whatnot?

I think just a general flyer that all of us could use at any con. Same thing the banner. we're all Aliens Legacy. Just different units/ships at different locations

no no, i mean like multiples of the design we come up with. that way if lets say the UK guys have a con table somewhere, we are not shipping the Legacy banner halfway across the world and running the risk of something happening to it.

Here's the UKCM table banner and standees:

I was talking about a banner that was cost effective for each group to display. Like if I were doing a table I could have a ship's banner and an Aliens Legacy banner that I/our group purchased at the same time as the AL banner for Dragon Con

Any objections to making the new banner similar to the UKCM design as seen in the pic? Not identical of course, but close to the basic layout, graphics, font and design?
No US or UK or UA designation, Just 'Colonial Marines', 'Aliens Legacy', and website. Alien and marine graphics included. I would make it larger, at least 7ft to 8ft long.

Both UKCM standees/roll ups would make a great basis for a Country independent AL board banner.

Considering how cheap are the standard standees/roll ups are and keeping
Transportation for greater displays in mind I would suggest to stick to the size you see in PVB's picture for the vertical displays.

IMHO the horizontal table banner could be larger though.

I will definitely make at least one horizontal and one vertical banner for the German Cons,
under the condition of cause that the designs get approved and its okay to use the graphics.

BTW: Do we have a high res AL logo?

Just to keep you guys informed. I'm moving forward with banner design with Paul M. as lead designer/artist. He is using the UK banners as a guide, as they work brilliantly! We are not certain of size yet, but we would like to have it 7ft or so. That will depend on cost and resolution limits for banner company.

Concept banner will be posted for feedback soon.

Thanks for the update.

I’m also working on banners and I think multiple designs are good and would also help if we have a large table area.

For the horizontal roll up (2m x 0,8m) banner I plan to use a picture of a USCM Marine like the UKCM does and for the table a vertical banner with the (current) AL logo (1m x 0,6m). Of cause an Alien would also follow for a 2nd horizontal banner. Optional the USCM Screaming Eagle and the Banner we come up with as official AL banner.

Looking forward to the new banner! It will certainly jazz up the Parade and the Fan Table!!

btw, who is signing up the Corps for a Fan Table? Tony Leach has done it for many years (and years!) but will not be attending DCon this year.

Who's going to be arranging the Fan Table?

The overall UK banner design looks good to me. Some subtle wording changes at the
top and a changed link at the bottom would look nice.

How much does a banner/standee set up cost these days?

The price will all depend on where it is done and the time frame. We had a bunch printed out a KIA but they were always rush jobs and had to be done yesterday so the price was high. There are plenty of shops around here. It is just getting the design and time frame. Always have to watch getting bumped due to bigger customers.

Thanks!

Greg

The new banner is in the works. It should be done well before the con. The basic concept design should be up soon. I'll get pricing and then post it. I intend to pay up front then ask for donations like I did with the parade kit. Again, donations are voluntary, but greatly appreciated.
NOTE: no standees are planned yet. Just the banner.. one thing at a time.

Thanks for the update.

I like the Monitor look. Great update! 8)

Perhaps for the table banner adding the QR code for the forum and the you tube enlist video.

I guess once this is done the business card would get update as well.

That design looks great! Thanks!

One question, any thought to putting the legacy URL under the colonialmarines.net URL?

Paul, the concept is brilliant! Love it! One more version will do, so we can vote on it.

Remember folks, simplicity is key. This is primarily a parade banner for easy recognition. The only feedback I have is perhaps making 'Colonial Marines' font a little larger so easier to see at distance.
