The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

If a suitable pic can be found that Paul can use, then yeah - I love the idea!

It would be great for a standee sign at our table! Those are high. It could be the full length pic of Chris. Perhaps photoshop the parade ribbon out and a suitable background.

Good future project!

You already created 3 firm ideas., just stick to the ones we have for now. Only a handful of people have thrown in ideas. Most AL members have yet to chime in. If we keep this up, it will never get done. No matter what comes up, someone is going to want it changed.

Please folks, again, this is only ONE banner. There will be other projects. Lets stay focused. Paul can't be doing concepts and scrapping them with every idea. At next DragonCon, we can do concept art photoshoots so we can get good images for future projects. Sound good?

With all due respect my friend, we Cannot toss aside the idea of Chris Chulamanis marching in the Parade with us for years to come.

I don't really have a pose of Chris that can even compare to the one with Darren.

Does anyone have anything of him that is suitable? My best ones are lacklustre.

Since I already gave my two cents, ill revise and say I like the idea of chris on the banner since the banner is in front of the color guard. That way he'll forever be leading the color guard.

Very heartfelt ideas. Its awesome.

However, generic images should stay generic, its for a good reason. That does not mean we are ignoring Chris's memory. A tribute banner/standee is upcoming. But it will also include Drew. There are other fallen marines we should not forget. If Chris goes on a banner, so should Drew. Can you where this is going? This can easily get out of hand.

What Paul has designed is great. We can start another thread for 'Tribute Projects'. Those who want to do that project are welcome to take the lead on it. I'm keeping this ship on course with the original concept. PLEASE trust me and Paul on our vision. I've delivered on my promises in the past. I respectfully request (beg) for your trust here. If you really don't like the finished product, I'll roll it up, put it away, and we can march with the old one. And I'll never mention it again. No harm, no foul. I'll take responsibility.

Remember, by requesting Paul to do revisions, its costs him time. He is making no wages from this. I'm going to be fair to Paul and ask as little as possible. Most graphic artists would charge per design. He has put enough work into this as is.

We're not forgetting other fallen Marines. We're honoring the guy who loved the Corps probably more than anyone else. The guy who only costumed as a Marine, who loved marching in the parade, who loved the Colonial Marines he sculpted armor in 1/6th scale for even more Colonial Marines.

Again, to many, Chris WAS the embodiment of the Colonial Marines.

I don't know why we are having this discussion, to be honest.

Derek Smith and Tony Leach are searching their photo archives for a good pic of Chris as well.

Huh, I thought it was immediately obvious that Darren was the Marine in that photo (and I've never met the guy!). But for casual observers (i.e. 99% of the people who will see this banner) it is a generic Marine.
I'm in favor of this shot for a number of reasons. It is a well composited shot and a well put together impression. His armour is by Terry English, the camo is the right pattern, the name on the chest is Hudson, and with the helmet down and gun up it creates a perfectly anonymous soldier archetype to counterbalance the Xeno.

Now if a photo of Chris can be found that works as well I think that would be great, but the desire to commemorate a fallen comrade could lead us away from the real goal of the banner: to give us any chance of recognition as Aliens fans and not G.I. Joe/Call of Duty etc.

But for what it's worth, I hope a photo of Chris will turn up.

I open a motion to keep the banner ideas as they were. We honour Chris sufficiently. We definitely should include Drew and Heidi in our yearly memorial.

Paul, you said exactly what I was thinking. I hope we keep this a banner project and not fallen marine tribute project. For those of you that don't know, I was the marine that convinced Chris to go to his first DragonCon. We spent 40 mins on the phone, and it felt like I knew him for years. He marches with us every year. And Paul is right..... what would Chris do? Use the design we have and wouldn't want any part of this bickering. Especially if he was the subject.

I didn't think we were bickering.

And all was very well said. I like the idea of carrying pictures of fallen Marines, that's AWESOME!!!

And yes, Chris is in our hearts when we're geared up, when we're marching, when we're performing the Colony Sweep.

I've stated my thoughts on having Chris as a VISIBLE presence in the parade.

We are a democracy. I will agree with the majority. I may not like the decision, or agree with it, but I will abide by it.

I like this; it's a nice balance of functional banner and subtle tribute. Paul has managed to pull off incorporating Chris's image in a tasteful manner while still managing to keep the banner feeling suitably generic. Maybe you could even replace 'Hudson' with 'FNG' or something. Well done that man.

Do we all agree on the pic? Alright let's vote. Less than 3 months left. Need to get this to the printers so it is not a rush job. I do not want to sound callous but we need to make a decision.

Thanks!
