I have a big question for all you peeps. Since I got my Shorty last year, I only have flown with MASSIVE AMOUNTS OF LUGGAGE. Now that I am going to Dallas, I am only taking a carry on. Had anyone ever flown with a pulse rifle in their carry on luggage? If so, did you talk to TSA first or just deal with it at the airport? Thanks for the advice. |

Don't. Just don't. Don't even try. It has to go in checked luggage. |

As I know you, and can't mistake you for a "simple-minded" person... I beg to ask why you even considered this question? |

I have to check my toy guns as actual weapons. This means that they're going in a locked pelican case, and getting the full check. Just so you know, the TSA weapons check doesn't open until 0600. I learned this the hard way and almost missed my flight to, and my flight from, DragonCon in 2011. So you need to plan your flight time accordingly. For a bit on the lighter side... In 2012, the TSA lady, as they always do, wiped the case around the seams, and put it in a detector. The alarm went off, and she told me that it tested positive for gunshot residue. I looked her straight in the eye and said "Yes, mam. It's a gun case." I don't think she understood how stupid her job is. |

I thought they were made by the same people who made the Scientology E-meter... |

Of course there's a probability that there's going to be gunshot residue on my guncase. It's a guncase. ![]() I guess I need to start cleaning my guncase before I travel too. You wouldn't learn these sort of things unless you too got delayed, or talked to someone like me who has been. |

I ask because I have never flown with them before. I imagine the answer was no, but because it is resin and has a few peace ties on it, I just wanted to ask. I am not daft or anything, just stuff recently has laxed up a little bit with TSA and I didn't know if resin props were ok as long as you let them know ahead of time. |

You can bring it in your checked luggage, but not your carry on. |

It isn't a huge deal. Since I am only bringing one bag, I just didn't want to carry it. |

We in the UKCM er on the side of caution and do not bring anything gun like with us unless it's an obvious plastic toy. Even then we sometimes don't. In this day and age it's best not to arouse any suspicion. Look what happened to Burton with a simple plastic pipe! |

I think I will be ok and either just check my bag or just say screw it and not bring it at all. |

So flying out to SF with the pulse rifle went pretty smoothly. The only catch was that the TSA was fascinated with it once they learned it was a prop from Aliens. They kept calling over their buddies to check it out. It took 20 minute for them to get their fill and move on. ![]() |

I'll bring my Pulse Rifle to the con if you want to borrow it. I'll be at the Alchemy Arms booth in the dealer room, stop by and pick it up and you can return it on Sunday before dealer's room closes. |

OK, I've edited a few posts from this thread, and PMed those responsible. I'll remind you all that this is a community and we're all supposed to be friends. That doesn't always work as well as it should, because we're all only human - So if someone here says something that pisses you off or offends you, please PM a moderator instead of engaging in public arguments. That only ever ends in escalation and hurt feelings. Let us deal with it. Cheers. Scapey. tl;dr - don't feed the Drama Llama. |
