The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

I have pretty much an entirely new Charlie uniform thanks to Aaron. I am so ready for this!

Ok color guard Marines, 19 days and counting. Please make sure your uniforms are getting their finishing touches. By now you should have all your needed items. Remember what we represent. Take pride that we lead the entire parade. So lets make sure we look like we belong there. If this is your first time in the color guard, fear not, we will do a quick review/rehearsal before the start of the parade. The method we used last year worked great, so no worries.
We are set up for success!

If we have that new parade route, its nothing to stress about. A few turns won't disrupt us. Just remember to hydrate and drink plenty of fluids before the parade (NOT just coffee!, I know the early morning is murder). Just be grateful you're not roasting in armor or worst yet, a bug suit!! (God bless you Abe!)

You make us all very proud! See you soon! OOO-Rah!

I thought the rendering of honors at the beginning of the parade last year was a really nice touch. We really ought to standardize a "Present Arms" position for Pulses, Flamethrowers, and Smartguns if we get a chance to repeat that this year - I think it'd look impressive as heck.

We plan to repeat that, and get on the same sheet of music regarding proper salutes with and without weapons. We just need to get everyone's attention a few minutes before kick off and do a run thru. 10 minutes of practice will make us look awesome.
Thanks for bringing it up.

QUESTION TO ALL COLOR/HONOR GUARD:

Is anyone NOT marching in Charlie uniform?

My thoughts exactly. It's a simple, easy detail that will have a big impact on the audience. I improvised a "Present Arms" with my M-56 last year and found that it worked pretty well, so I have every confidence that something similar to existing salutes should work just fine for us.

I've made numerous upgrades to the Charlie uniform I intend to wear in the parade, including a switch to Rifle Green pants. Only problem is that I don't have a matching cover yet. I'm working on it, but I'm also trying to get my armor rebuilt and painted in time for D-Con and time is running out.

IF I should fail to complete my Service C uniform in time:

As a fallback, would anyone object if I wore a Dress Blue Delta uniform instead? The only major differences would be black pants w/blood stripes and a white dress cover instead of green pants and cover. This uniform is good to go now.

My position in the Color Guard formation is left rear flank, so there should be plenty of Charlie uniforms in front of me. Any thoughts / comments / advice always welcome. :) :delta:

Carmila has worn Blue Dress Delta in the past, and I believe she is at least wearing her white cover ths year, so I don't see it being an issue.

Thanks for the good news and the support. :)

I thought the Delta uniform would be an appropriate choice to (unofficially) represent the JCDF, Japan Colonial Defence Forces, as I'm carrying the flag of Japan in the parade. Anyway, the Delta's a popular choice for events such as this out along the Japanese colonial arm, over in Herculis.

Mole you are correct! Mine is a Class C Officer Uniform with the skirt. Blue Delta is with the jacket, but I haven't found one to fit.

Dom, your offer is much appreciated but that'd be a bit too large for me. I normally wear 7 1/8, or a 7 in this case.

I have a size 7 (57mm) US Army dress cover that fits perfectly, but the cloth is a different shade of green and it's much lighter than the Rifle Green pants, so no cigar.

If anyone has a CF Rifle Green forage cap in either 7 or 7 1/8 they'd be willing to lend me for the D-Con parade, please shoot me a PM if you'd like to help out. Meanwhile I'll continue doing what I can to secure one of my own. Thanks in advance. :)

Dru, just wear the army cap! It should be fine. No worries, just wear it. Good to have you back.

Eventually, the goal is to see a Color Guard in near 100% proper dress uniforms. This is the first year (that I can recall), that ALL members of the Color Guard are in Charlie's (or other dress uniform). No one expects participant's uniforms looking perfect in the first year! Next year, maybe..lol. But this year, we're darn close to 100%. And that's awesome enough. Each year we'll just get better and better.

For all accuracy, the Dress Blues Uniforms are appropriate for parades, and Service Uniforms are not.
In the USCMC, there's no reference to Dress Blues, however I hope that we're never going to give them up.

In 2012, I wore my USCM Service Charlies, because I have a half-assed set.
I have some components to make USCM Dress Blue Deltas, however I haven't done any work to make them yet.
I asked my Staff Sergeant about Dress Blues Charlies and Delta, and about marching in parades. I can wear my real USMC Dress Blue Deltas, however his only concern was "what kind of parade", and I assured him that it was not anything unbecoming of the Corps, nor would I be subject to UCMJ Article 134.

as did i with my M-56. brought it up ala present arms salute. this pic for the nonmilitary types: http://www.drillpad.net/Graphics/Fig4-5.gif

how about just using the US Military rifle salute for those armed? its pretty easy and would look GREAT if we did it all at the same time.

I'd like to propose a colour party meet-up on Friday night, just to work out small details over drill, cadence, etc. The little alcove outside at the top of the stairs right next to High Velocity at 19:00. Does this work for everyone?
