The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

Well done to all color guard for 2018! Thank you for your dedication. It was an honor to march with you.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Colonial Marine Colour Guard
This post is staffed by Dom Baldwin and assisted by Tony Bassi
To organize a competent marching troop in Service C uniforms to carry our colours at the head of the parade, and to raise funds to supply the Colour Guard with needed kit to accomplish this duty.
Current CG Standards/Guidelines.

1) All flags (with the exception of U.S. flag) shall be same (or similar) in size, 3x5. U.S. flag is to remain a size larger, 4x6. I understand that some flags are hard to get exactly 3x5, no worries, anything close is ok. No need to be picky down to the last cm or inch regarding flag size.
2) All poles and toppers will be standard brass color and of same type. (If possible!) Also, all poles (in exception of U.S. flag) will be the same (or close to) the same length.
3) All color guard marines will be dressed in Charlie uniforms (if possible). Dress blues optional for the U.S. flag bearer (I actually prefer this!).
-Svc C uniform: Please be complete! proper khaki shirt, manderin collar, ribbons, patches, name tapes, white gloves, proper trousers (contact Dom), green service cap and Colonial Marine
emblem (contact Dom), black shoes. (items not mandatory, but please try to get close!)
4) 2 color guard riflemen will flank and accompany U.S. flag bearer, if possible.

Ok, all are welcome to add to the list. We can put all ideas here, then pick and choose what we think will work best. Thanks!

#3 - It is preferable that they are in Svc C, but, this will inhibit the potential amount of colour party members we have as not everyone whom has Svc C like to be in the colour party and not everyone willing to volunteer for the colour party has a Svc C.

Claymore has requested that he be allowed to carry the Scottish Saltire in the parade this year, in Service Cs with a kilt.
Any objections?

As this will be my one and only trip to D*Con, I humbly request the honour of carrying the White Ensign of the UKCM.

Sounds awesome! However, that's not up to me. The UKCM must approve of that. Your Svc C uniform is not required, however its STRONGLY recommended.

Dom, and for item #3:
Yes, agreed. But I hope to work on that in the future. The overall goal is to obtain close uniformity. So if we can encourage volunteers to get their Svc C's, the more the merrier. We only need just enough to cover the flag bearers and/or armed escorts. 8 or 9 marines I estimate. It's do-able.

Again, I'm not forming concrete rules written in stone. You can wear what you want, however I just strongly urge we have some uniformity in the Color guard. If you are representing your nation, by all means show national pride. My question is, if you're carrying the Scottish Saltire, why WOULDN'T you wear a kilt?? That would be very fitting.
You have the rest of the Svc C's right? (tan shirt and green cap)?

I always thought the UKCM's way of choosing was to turn up on the day and have flag thrust at you. Hopefully someone in charge will see this thread and take a hint. ;)

I have Svc C. In fact, I was putting together a set of Dress Blues but between it being hard to source parts for the uniform in the UK and lack of funds, I'll be wearing my Charlies.

I love that fact we are at the front holding the flag's of our nation.

The only problem with size it that the UKCM flag is a bit on the large size. Need to ask a few member's of the UKCM to change this for a smaller one.

I like Svc C and plus with the ribbons it's looks the business.

None from me... So long as the tartan is tasteful.

It would in fact be acceptable for any Commonwealth nation... I won't, though. My boys need a home.

Not wanting to derail this thread, the short story is my husband won't let me go again. Long story - I'll tell you when I see you (though I'm sure you probably already know bits of it).

Thanks to Dan my Svc C's are done so if I'm required in the 'guard' just let me know.

I won't be able to yell at people about 'spacing' so it may be a little 'off' and I swear last year I caught a few peeling off into hooters as we passed...but those are 'acceptable losses'

Again just a reminder, 'I' have the flags and poles from last year.
This weekend I'll pull it all out again, make sure what I have is what I think I have and post about anything else required.
We don't want a repeat of last year ;)

I just ask that I am NOT on the left side this year. Having to double time it around the corners in a skirt and heels was not the easiest thing to do!

I just need to get the new shirt and the rest of my ribbons and I am good to go.

We'll be forming two ranks to avoid that problem.

I'm still in the Corps, and I can still get the goods if anyone needs something to finish some Service Charlies.

And Carmila, I will find you a Female short sleeve khaki shirt!

Rebecca,

Try this link.

http://www.fcsurplus.ca/shopping/produc ... aps/?bc=no

Its not the white cap, but its the same as what the rest of us wear. And its prolly a lot cheaper then getting an authentic white USMC cap.

Sorry. This product has sold out.

On base, USMC products are actually fairly inexpensive. Plus there's no tax. It's just a hassle (and fuel expense) for me to drive down to San Diego.

That plus I've never had to look for female uniform items...

I'm seeing it more like this, Tony...

We absolutely need to ranks; as mentioned above, one rank is way too wide and the members on the outside flank have to make an exaggeratedly huge wheel.

Also, we can strike an armed escort and I can be on the right of the US flag and you on the left.

That looks much more sensible, though, you've got the wrong name for the Scotland flag.
Isn't is supposed to be Claymore?
