The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

I think someone hit up "FarPoint Con" last year in Baltimore, but I'm not sure how it went. Coming up again in February but looks like a smaller event.

The philly comic con looks like a much bigger deal, but isnt until June.

I would also be very interested in east coast events if anyone has a scoop on what would be a good spot.

Farpoint is coming up in Maryland in February. There will be a lot of Marines there.

ICon is on Long Island in March.

http://www.iconsf.org/

I should be a guest at both cons.

I'd be interested in recommendations for more Cons in the Southeast, too, (other than DragonCon) especially as I seem to be the only CM in SC as far as I can tell.

I just realized FarPoint-con is like...SOON!

Who is still planning on going? I'll be traveling from VA to PA and back that weekend, so a stop in Baltimore would not be too difficult.

Depending on how much flights to Miami are/hotels are, as Steve will be here visiting we *may* be able to come. I'll look into it.

I've lived here almost my entire life, and I was not aware of this convention. I might try to swing it. I never gear up for MegaCon here in Orlando anymore because they harass people about weapons too much.

Yeah, Mega is an odd one. I'm surprised you had not heard of SuperCon, though. Bad marketing on their end, I'd say ;)

Looks like it's a no-go for us unless flight prices drop significantly. Flights are near to $500/each, which seems a bit ridiculous since I can fly to NYC for like $150. I'll keep checking periodically, though!

A number of us regularly do Farpoint (president's day weekend) and Shoreleave (early August) in Baltimore, MD. We always drop. Both are modest in size (500-1500 attendees), Farpoint being the smaller of the two, although the attendance fluctuates with the popularity and number of guests. For many of us it's a large party more than anything else.
Philly comicon is a comic convention atmosphere, and not great for hanging out unless you want to obtain a fan table & sit around it all day. I usually take the kids out to that one for the day, as it is fun, just not stay-there-all-weekend fun. Philcon is a long-running con I've heard good things about costume-wise, but I've never attended.

Farpoint sounds great . Just did a con last weekend so probably not going to be able to make that one but shore leave sounds good . How many marines go to shore leave ? I would love to do a colony sweep if there is one? Thanks for the leads
