Ahoy Fellow Marines.
I am new to the board and in the process of putting together my USCM impression.
I am working on adding Graffiti to my armor kit.

I have a question for you experts out there.
I was inspired by a somewhat well know photograph of a Marine in Vietnam.
The picture is taken of the Marine's back and on his M-55 flak jacket he wrote-

"LBJ's Hired Guns"

I was thinking about doing something similar on my USCM armor. What I thought of was writing

"Weyland's Hired Gun or Gun's

The question I pose to everyone is would that be something that would be applicable?
Would it make sense or is it too much of a long shot?
I have no knowledge of a name referring to a President in the movies or comics.
I would assume that the USCM is separate from the Weyland corporation.
But I am unsure.
Anyway any advice would be appreciated.

I personally would not have weyland on my armour, to me the company has always been a separate entity even if they have their grubby paws into everything and do you really want to be known as a company stooge?

After listening to the aliens colonial marines panel at comic con, dont put weyland on your armor. They told us a little about the game story as far as weyland and the colonial marine corps. 8)

Thanks for the advice. I was on the fence about it anyway but wanted to check with some people that would know.
Thanks again. Will post pics up soon.

I put it on the back of my helmet.

Despite what people say the point of the joke that said Marine is that here is this poor slob on the arse end of the world (universe) doing the dirty work of someone he doesn't agree with it. And with a marker he voiced his disgust with it all.

Its not a "moto" graffiti. Its more of a "political statement" graffiti.

I don't think a lot of people get that. I got the same reaction when people saw I had painted a rough version of the company logo to the same effect:

I toned it down on a better helmet I required and just painted the words "Weyland Yutani" rather than that huge ugly logo.

Throw the WY logo in a red circle with a crossbar through it Ghostbusters logo style. Might be real popular once the game comes out ;)

You're also sometimes 'hired' by Colonial Administration, possibly ICC and several other entities, most likely all at the same time. They'd have to supply military expedition funding in percentages proportionate to the ratio of assets each entity owns, compounded by any joint ventures, conglomerates and other messy corporate stuff.
It's all one big shit-storm of corporate entities and agencies clamouring for power, percentages and shares.

Personally, I don't think your knowledge or cares about where your combat pay comes from would extend as far as knowing much more than some of the names of those companies in the above. Unlike Vietnam, it's no longer fairly straightforward politics, but messy, complicated corporate laws and if you understood those sufficiently to isolate blameful companies, you'd be making a fortune as their legal representative, not working as a grunt!

I'd generally say keep it to the stuff you know - Guns, poontang, alcohol, food, sports, other planets' cultures, romance, rude jokes and so on.

That said, given WY's high profile, this particular statement is probably fine. It's kinda like Wal-Mart and it's many fingers in many pies.

So are you saying that Carter Burke was a "artificial person" too? ;-) Cos that could open up a whole new can of worms not to mention topic for debate! Has this one ever been explored/discussed before?

Honestly I "get" the statement gi-rene is making with the WY Hired Gun graffiti-

The idea being that "I'm a Marine, and work for the USCM... but the reality is I'm WY's hired muscle."

So the statement might be that WY practically "owns" the USCM... whether we like it or not.

Well its meant to be taken in character. Did LBJ go out and hire that Marine directly? No, unless he was a draftee and it still isn't like the President came down to put him in.

But as most know, the military types usually direct their scorn towards whatever they feel is screwing them over most at the moment.

Don't worry, I'm not company Stooge. I'll nuke a site from orbit in a heartbeat.
