Well Marines,
It looks like I won't be making it to DCon 2012. With a wedding and honeymoon, there just isn't much spare cash floating around. I'll miss you guys and gals terribly!

Scott (Falken) will be taking over my room at the Hilton. He needs roomies, I've already mentioned my roomie of the past two cons, Dru (Mudshark) to him.

I'm sure I'll be melancholy as the event draws closer, and much more so as it's happening!

I look forward to hearing about the Corps adventures (with pics!!)!!!

Now, who is going to be in the Color Guard?! Tony has gotten some nice flagpoles and flags. I'll be sending the USCM flag off to Tony Leach.

This is really sad news that you won't be there this year Rex! But on the plus side I can't think of a better reason for NOT going on your part! :mrgreen:

Also since one of my reasons for wanting to get to a D*Con at some point is to meet up again so you can buy me that beer you owe me! :twisted: ;-) (or do I owe you? :oops: ) Anyway this takes the pressure off trying to make it this year when I will have been in this new job less than a year and a lot less than that when the planning and paying would have to start so I guess barring a lottery win in which case you and I would both be going I'll leave it until AFTER the end of the World (Mayan)! ;)

Man, it's just not going to be the same without you there bro, but understandable under the circumstances. I've been debating whether or not I can afford to make it myself, but I'm hooked (largely thanks to you!), so I'm planning to be there again this summer. I'll take the room with Scott if he's cool with that... otherwise I may have to pitch a tent somewhere! Anyway, I'll let him know I'm interested.

Regarding the parade, I should have my Dress Blues finished in plenty of time, and volunteer for Color Guard duty again if you need someone to carry Old Glory in your place. I'll contact the other guys and see how things work out.

I've been out of touch for a while but will PM soon to get caught up on things. In the meantime, all the best to you and your new bride, and look forward to seeing you there again in 2013!!!

I'm still trying to compose myself after hearing this news Rex....and its been a few days!!

We'll have a few beers in a few months and I'll pick up the flag in person ;)

There are only two true excuses for not doing D*C and as you're not dead you're lucky you fall into the other bracket ;)
