You know what, after Kevin's reply, I gave a very good tought about this and I've decided to post the letter I've send to DCon. Please remember that probably some of the events described in this letter is giving headheaches to the DCon staff. One thing not mentionned in the letter is the fire that happened in the main lobby of the Hilton hotel on Sunday overnight. (This was witnessed by one individual that shared our room this year0
I would say something right now: DO NOT blame any DCON staff about this. This is not of their control. Other than this, we had an awesome convention this year and looking foward to next year.

Hi Guys,
My wife and I enjoyed a lot Dragon Con 2010, it was a great con. However, two events got our attention.
One was the waiting time to retrieve our pre-registered badges (4 and a half hour). I heard from other people that it took them even longer. Something is going to have to be done for this.
One thing I would suggest is to print bar codes on the confirmation cards. People would come at any desk instead of a desk with letters, you scan the card, ask for ID and have a printer for the labels. It's just an idea, but this one with other ideas that other people would suggest to you could make you do things better.
Usually we do pre-registration so that the convention can have money up-front to organize the future one. I think that's the way you want it also. But for the next year, I was tempted to wait until the next con to buy my registration at the door and paid $100 for it. Me and my wife would have happily paid $40 more and not wait 4 and half hours to get our badges. One of our friends that had not registered got in at the registration desk and got out 15 minutes later, that was frustrating for us. We still pre-registered hoping for better next year.
The other thing was the closure of the skylines overnight. I witnessed the one on Sunday when some hotel staff pushed back people RUDELY to close it. (I mean it: They were not rude physically but the way they shouted at people was not acceptable) At a point tensions rose, some fighting occurred between hotel staff and people on the floor and the police had to intervene, making arrests. Someone also got hurt in this event, blood was spilled all over the floor.
After this incident, I noticed that a lot of the people that were still on the main floor of the Marriott Marquis just got out in the street between the Marriott and the Hyatt and continued party over there instead.
According to someone from the Marriot that I talk to later, the closure was for maintenance only, If the hotel staff would just told people that it was for maintenance duty, things would not had gone bad that way. You probably saw what happened later, all people, about 3000 persons, including my wife, at the Cruxshadows show got in the street instead of orderly in the skywalk. My wife later told me that she would have felt more secure to use the skywalk at that time of night. I would think that this incident was a major headache for you and the hotels. How can someone securely manage crowd control if the major secure way of transfer between hotels is been closed?
Something else for the skylines between the Hyatt and Peachtree Center, the corridor that leads to them and the blood drive room is a bottleneck. However 2 couches were installed in this corridor, preventing a regular flow of people, I would suggest that you ask the hotel to remove them next year.
Thank you for reading this, if no one is reporting you these things, how can you correct them in the future. Then again, great convention, we can't wait for next year.
Have a nice day, See you next year
Stephane Marcotte
