There are still two spots open for the parade.

I've got to get my eyes checked.

PS- anyone who for whatever reason decides they can't make the parade- please let me know as soon as possible (Friday night latest).

I will be handing out parade ribbons Saturday morning at our fan table before we leave for Woodruff Park (the beginning point of the parade)- and checking names off of the sign up list (yes... I'm making a list and checking it twice*). Please make every effort possible to not be late when we move out from the table.


*I apologize for that lame attempt at humour... I've been drinking.

Are we sure that Doc wasn't kidding when he said "leaves me out"?

He's on the road now so he won't be able to chime in.

We can work this out in Atlanta of course- just that Doc will have to carry the US flag.

Oh and I'm bringing my flag carrier for whomever needs it.

There is a precedent... IIRC, Dave was supposed to be the USCM flag-bearer in 2007, and as most of us know... someone else grabbed it.

I don't think I see it as any kind of demotion for Doc to carry the US flag. Being up there in front of the whole group, hell, the whole damn parade is a damn big honour. Besides, I wold prefer someone in the Svc C to carry our guidon.

My only concern comes from a complaint we had last year- that the US flag has to be held the highest if other flags are present. I was holding the USCM banner vertically while others had their flags at a bit of an angle.

From what I understand Doc is my height while Derek... is considerably taller.

Like I said I'm not trying to argue or anything, and I don't have a problem with the switch . Just that Doc will have to make the effort to keep the US flag higher than everyone else and from what I know he's the shortest member of the Colour Party. Perhaps the simple answer is to have Doc hold the US flag vertically while everyone else is at an angle.

Just want to make sure we "get it right" this year.

... BUT, I understand we are, after on US soil. If it's an official rule, fair enough.

Yeah it's just how they (the US) do it. Last year we set it up the Canadian way with the "host country's" flag to the immediate right of the banner.

Every flag etiquette site that I've read has shown us to be wrong.

Although I agree with Jerome, correct SOPs would have the same way as last year with the US flag in the front or else everyone march abreast with the US flag to the right (observer's left).

So, just a quick preference poll:

A) US Flag to the front with two ranks following behind
B) One single rank
