The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

I'm newer to the forum. Where is the gathering? Are we talking about Dragoncon 2011 in Phoenix or Atlanta? Approximatelly how many USCMs do you estimate will make parade? Are there photos from prior years posted here? Sounds like a blast! I'm chatting with Steve from scifimilitary about getting an accurate uniform. Would love to join in the fun.

D*Con - Atlanta
Labor Day weekend 2011

Average turnout....about 50 marines on a good year.

Photo's from prior years...not sure if they're still hosted but search the forum and I'm sure you'll find the links to people's albums/galleries.

There's also video footage from several previous D*cons too, including the colony sweeps and the parade marches.

The one in Phoenix is just called the Phoenix Comicon, and I was mentioning that earlier this month. There's another con in Arizona called the Phoenix Cactus Comicon which is in Mesa but I don't know if that still runs or not, or if the one in Phoenix is where it moved to and renamed itself.

Most people preregister/prepay then pick up your badge at the con. No-one is allowed a badge before the Thursday of D*Con to prevent counterfeiting.

You can buy membership on the day, but it's more expensive. Some say that it means shorter lines, but this year they're planning on improving prereg badge pickup.

Unless that was a really really short line with free drinks served by exotic dancers, I think I'd rather pre-reg and save the money.

Because I bought my pass last month and it stated that it can only be picked up, not mailed. Sorry for recapping on past events

membership prepaid at 2010 dcon for this year, hotel booked, hotel money to give to outcry set. I should be getting my postcard soon in the mail. I just need to buy new patches for my flightsuit when I have more money from my new job. and I'll be saving 30 bucks out of every paycheck from here until dragoncon. I'm so set for this!

also what's gonna be the deal with the colony sweep? I know it's the 25th anniversary of aliens but it's also the 25th anniversary of dragoncon itself and it's going to be bigger than ever. which means more people. which means harder to get around the major hotels.

I pre-registered at the con and haven't received anything in the way of a postcard yet. Should I be concerned that it might have gotten lost in all the junk mail?

OK Marines, I did it. Just paid for my Dcon 2011 membership and need to confirm a piece of floor for me to lay my air mattress, barracks box and drunken body. Who will take me?

Cherie and I got ours about a week after we paid....so if its been longer for you I'd call and check on it.

Awesome news Mike....I'm sure someone has room....sadly though its not us this year, sorry :(
However we have roomed with Mike before and I'll gladly vouch for him.
