The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

Hmmm. I detect a hint of SG-69 in my squad. Yes, the AAH (so named after the satisfying sounds our prey makes) Squad is active mostly at night. Sometimes during the parade if there are cute girls watching the parade. Or girls in general.

During the colony sweep I mainly hang out in the rear (I am watching your asses!) because my cowboy hat makes a good marker. At least that's what Mike told me that year...

Basically, no - No-one really takes it seriously.
About the only serious aspect of costuming is being really anal over the correct details of teh kit and being geeky about the movies.

We do this for fun, friendship and the general social side of things.
In fact, in some circles we're known for being the least serious of the costuming groups.
When everyone else is there at 8am, already fully kitted and ready to go, we roll in at about half 10, hungover and having a laugh! :D

But we look damned good doing it. 8)

Oh, and we've led off the parade two years in a row.

The problem with me is that I wanna take things seriously because I want to meet the standard. It's a habit I've gotten from JROTC and the Guard.

Getting my gear together. Mostly pulling together to get an accurate Sgt. Apone as I can. I don't have the money for armor does that matter for the parade?

Not as far as I'm concerned. I won't be wearing my armor for the parade, you can borrow it if you like.

Woody, although I understand the spirit of what it is you're trying to say, your statement doesn't speak for me... and I can think of a few more.

Don't get me wrong, I do have fun doing this but I do take it very seriously. :delta:

Speaking of armor, what's a good way of transporting it as luggage while taking a flight? Figured of asking ahead of time.

Some form of large firm-sided suitcase generally.

I use one like this:

That's why I'm building the rifle from scratch. Not to mention, I'm gonna get extra magazines and grenades due to having ammo pouches and a bandoleer. I thought: "Why not come prepared with as much as you can so that there's plenty to go around?"

As long as you don't build your armour from cardboard and fiberglass...

A lot of us here are very creative... but even we realize that it is pointless and frustrating to reinvent the wheel. Reasonably priced armor and pulse rifles exist out there, so we support the makers. If you want to build a pulse, try building a spulse! Want more of a challenge? You could get an airsoft conversion kit and go from there.

I did think about getting Spat's pulse rifle kit, but the problem is that it didn't have any working mechanisms. And if I got an airsoft conversion kit, it would cost too much. I'm trying to be resourceful due to a tight budget and also be creative by doing some work by myself instead of having something that is already made for me. Like right now, I am building my pulse rifle from scratch and I will soon dye my urban camo BDU.

And since nobody thought of giving help on reassembling the R870, I might as well get another. I can't seem to get the mechanism working on the pump and the trigger. They feel jammed.

I can use help on getting a proper handguard for the launcher since most of the gun part sites have zip.

You're not using the one that came with your Spas 12?

I was suggested on getting an getting the actual cage, and I am hoping to get a replica vent and buttstock. Just need to wait on the dough to come in.

By then you'll probably have access to this forum's sales & wants, then there's bound to be a sale of cages and handguards. :)

I just remembered something not too long ago. Along with the Spat armor I'm gonna get, I am thinking of purchasing a two-way radio to put into the helmet. However, I cannot find the right kind that is available. What I am asking is this: If any of you are using radios, are you planning on upgrading any time soon before the con?
