The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

Is there a "schedule" for the USCM group at D*C this year? I'm bringing a few different costumes so I'll be all over the place but want to make sure don't miss the good stuff with the group.

Most of the time it's hanging out at the fan table with the guys.

Saturday is the big day for us-

Morning 0900hrs- Parade

After the parade we might go to Hard Rock cafe for lunch (basic BDUs optional- no armour ;) ).

Afternoon (usually around 1600hrs) Colony sweep- this is the most fun where you can really get into character.

We move through the two hotels sweeping the area as if we are searching for bugs. Last year was a bit too dynamic with us running and screaming like madmen- I think this year we should do the "low and slow" routine as if we are entering the hive looking for colonists. ;)

Hopefully the walkway to the food court will be open this time (saves us from having to go outside like last year).

Sunday we usually get together for early dinner (say around 1800hrs). BUT NO FRIGGING HOOTERS THIS TIME! THEY SUCK!!

I'm going to be pulling a JoeRanger a lot this year as I'm bringing four costumes- Saturday I will be dedicated to USCM until we call it quits. ;)

"I know I'm human. And if you were all these things, then you'd just attack me right now, so some of you are still human. This thing doesn't want to show itself, it wants to hide inside an imitation. If it takes us over, then it has no more enemies, nobody left to kill it. And then it's won."

This one will need some coordination, because I need to ensure that Squashed Spider (our bug) is waiting for us at our destination before we begin.

The smartgunner rig is consuming pretty much all of my resources, hehe, so it's probably the only costume I'm going to be bringing. Don't be surprised if you guys see me rockin' it all weekend long, lol.

Obviously I'm going to be with you guys until the fat lady sings on Saturday, but if there's anyone else like me who isn't brining many other costumes, let me know and we can make sure to link up for "operational support" on the other days too!

Funny... I've been taking the heat for that incident for the last year. ;)

If you watch the colony sweep on our exclusive USCM dvd- we are all waiting to cross the street on our way to the Hyatt- the crossing guard on duty blows his whistle to signal us to cross...

I start yelling,

<span style="font-size:large;]GO!!

<span style="font-size:x-large;]GO!!!

<span style="font-size:xx-large;]GOOOOOO!!!!!!

And everyone starts running like a bat outta hell. :o

Come to think of it- when we did burst into the Hyatt lobby, guns pointing at anything that moved, it's a wonder that the cops didn't do anything at all to us.

NO HOOTERS!!!

We spoke of the Steake & Ale place or something but of course I didn't take into concideration the veggies among us.

So pizza does sound good, we just need somewhere to eat it without all being crammed into one room.

Thoughts?

Am I in trouble...again?
Seriously, I'll like to do a recce with a few of the leaders with a better route and include "Hudson, run a bypass" scenes at every closed door. I like to see us shake it out in pairs or "fireteam partners" and squads as per page 12 section 2.1 of the Colonial Marines Technical Manual. Trackers will be online looking for movement. At the end for the grand finale while we are in 'All around defense", someone who wasn't in the bug hunt could throw our plush facehuggers at us and we can grease those. Then Jennifer and any other bug can come out of the crowds "or walls  " and thats when the glorious battle ends. Predators are welcome, too.
My 2 cents.

Hey Sarge,
Bring that bad boy to Polaris. We'll give it a trial run there for the big bug hunt at Dcon.

Unless someone has done it already- I'm going to go ahead and register us for the D-Con parade (no one's mentioned it in a while).

I'm emailing Jan Price right after I post this message.

Oh yeah- one of those minions came up a said the cops were watching us closely as well when we did that.

Shortly afterwards a cop came up and asked us to move back a bit a clear the walkway (fire hazard and all)- didn't have anything to say about our actions.

I don't think the police up here would have been as forgiving. ;)

And I think we should be a little more umm... covert this time around. ;)

You can always tell the new cops at Dragoncon. True story, one year we were watching this pair of cops. The younger guy was visibly stressed between the various "outfits" and the general mass of people and weapons etc. The older officer just kept giving him "their fine" "it's ok" "don't worry about it" any time he got too bad. Eventually the younger guy calmed down. About five minutes later I saw the older cop calmly pull a disposable camera out of his pocket, take a pic of one of the costumes, and put it back in his pocket, never breaking the rest of his body language. It was all I could do not to start laughing. I talked to the older one later when he was alone and his response was "actually a lot of the guys like working Dragoncon. You guys give us a lot less grief than the business conventions we deal with."

So yep, Atlanta PD knows all about us.

I really need to start bugging Exo again about going. I still have the time slotted off, but he's started a new job and hasn't asked yet. If I can go, I'll call cadence. Don't think because I'm a woman, I can't be loud either. ;)

Yeah even my Bat-Translator couldn't decipher that last post. ;)

Anyway- Jan emailed me back, and we are registered for the parade.

She had a question for me though- she got several emails that bordered on harrassment from "colonialmarines.net". She is worried that a "T.Leach" might be a stalker, and hopes he is not associated with our group.

I had to break the news to her that he is (associated with our group- not a stalker). :o :(

Just messing with you Tony. ;)

She wanted to know if colonialmarines.net was a part of our group or a seperate one. I told her that it was, and that I didn't get the memo about you registering us first. ;)
