The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

Hey, we're still talking about plans for Dragon*Con - how's that off topic?

And they started it.

Ok we did our budget for Dragon 2k11 (alright lets be real Pete did it) and I made the list for costume bits to buy, as soon as we get back from picking up my stuff from storage, the serious costuming will begin.

I will be attempting the room reservation thing at the Marriot... and if that fails, the Hyatt... I WILL NOT BE THWARTED!!

Get ready for The Marriott Marquis room booking. It starts tomorrow at 8 AM sharp. You have to use the numbers I've specified earlier last week in this topic.

Don't bother calling the hotel directly. I've tried last year, they did not took any booking directly.

Intel from the DragonConRooms LJ community

http://community.livejournal.com/dragon ... 94116.html

Atlanta Marriott Marquis:
Booking starts: Oct. 1, 2010. Phone reps have been saying 8 AM EDT all along; passkey site currently says 12 PM EDT. Be ready either way!
How to book:

Phone: 1-800-266-9432 or 506-474-2009

Online: https://resweb.passkey.com/Resweb.do?mo ... ID=2732976

# rooms that can be blocked at once: 5 rooms (was not able to confirm whether this meant online or by phone only)
Room rate: Passkey rep says that they are seeing 3 room types, listed at either $190 or $210. He couldn't confirm what the types were, but given that Marriott only has two regular room types, this is probably double/triple/quad. IDK whether booking a quad will guarantee 2 double beds - did anyone actually book a quad last year?
Deposit: One night will be charged to your cc on July 16, 2011. Deposit is non-refundable after that date, can cancel without penalty prior.

It could be as much as $210 per night?

The regular rate is $229 per night!

Even $190 is up there!

I finally got through the regular Mariott line, called up at 0830 when i was still waiting for passkey number to work.

Long story short after the hotel system crashing and waiting and waiting on hold and with operator I was only able to get a Mariott room from Friday to Monday, Thursday sold out. The operator told me that the passkey booking setup was wrong preventing the rooms to be freed up. So I don't know what to do, I might try the passkey site now that it seems to be working and try to get one night on Thursday that way, if not I guess I'll try to sleep or rest somewhere Thursday night :(

EDIT - can't even book online, what a gong show.

I had the same trouble last year. I called back a few days later and booked the Thursday night. It's not sold out the system is just, once again, effed up. Once p-ASS-key handed over the rooms to the Marriott I called back, again, to merge the two reservations into one Thursday through Monday ticket.

I'll be there. Not prereg'd or anything yet, though I'll take care of that soon. No clue what my room status is yet, though I'll likely be staying with some friends. However, if anyone is willing to take me on should something go wrong, just let me know.

It could happen... God knows that $200 per night for a double occupancy is still quite expensive... or maybe they know we stuff 4-5 people in those rooms.

Right now looking like I shall be there. Hotel unknown ( Sid still thinking on which one to keep.)
Now do I still have the shipping info for our supply point in Atlanta .

I can supply US flag and pole for parade.

If I ever get the email confirmation the Mariott promised me and have yet to receive... ideally I'd like to just stay for the one night at the overflow location then move to the Mariott Friday. Just don't want to be without a chair when the music stops.

How does the valet parking work? Should I just plan to pay 28 dollars a day just to park my car even if I do not move it while I am there? Never had to deal with one before since I usually just fly in. Membership ordered although I have to change address on everything as I took a job down in Ga and I am moving there next week. Very excited!

Thanks!
