The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

How many Marines usually show up for the dinner? About how many people are you looking to accommodate?

I wouldn't mind doing some recon between now and next con for the Corps.

We had 38 eating and 2 just hanging out for some reason. So assume about 40.

if it's that little asian place that's right next to the parking garage, I'm all for it... sean, avvy and myself try to eat there on monday for lunch before we leave... but if we order the wonton soup... please ask for no shrimp.... good thing I looked, or I would have ended up in the hospital. I like max lager's also. it was a good place to eat.

There's also still that Turkish place!! It's all a matter of booking it well enough in advance before they fill up.

It's sandwiched between the liquor store which is across the street from the Sun Trust building and the souvenir store.
There is an open space for parking, but no parking garage to my knowledge.

There's also the Vortex, about a mile from the host hotels. Parking an issue, though (and probably will be just about anywhere in Midtown). Dunno if folks will want to walk that far, but they have great food, a huge beer selection, and pretty punk rock girls serving.

There's also Azio's, if people fancy Italian. It's right near the Metro Diner.

Gibney's Pub, adjacent to the food court. They have a large rear room that can accommodate a, large group (but isn't separate from the rest of the pub, and the Brit's would have to endure a Southerners take on their culture).

Benihana.

Hsu's and Lagers have both been mentioned.

There's Gladys Knights "Chicken and Waffles" over by Emory/Crawford Long (easy walk).

Still looking for other ideas in the area, I'll toss them up here as they come to me.

That's the key for anything in the area, for that weekend. Seriously, I'd suggest we attempt to pick a spot, and try to book it before this year is out.

I super want to eat at Gladys Knights Chicken and Waffles but I suck with directions on foot so expect me to kidnap you if the group dinner isn't there.

I have the best picture of Dom singing. It was amazing!

How about the Pub we passed by on the way to the Juke Joint? I wonder if they could accommodate us next year.

BTW HUGE shout out to Spat and Paul for planning. The food and atmosphere was amazing. But was it me, or did we stick out a little bit.....

The only problem with Benihana is they don't do large groups really well. You can only get 8 people around each teppanyaki station and they would have to stagger us.

Me, Bruce, Rich, Paul Andy and Karyn was talking about the meal on Saturday night. Yes we did stick out alot as everyone else was black. Now do not get me wrong and I do not want to start any thing here, But it was very strange been right up to the music with front row seats and eveyone looking at us.

The meal itself was great and the music was a nice touch if a little bit too loud.

Thanks to Spat and Paul for sorting it out.

Cheer's Steve
