The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

Having a hard time finding proper military attire that wasn't a collectable or a relic. I decided to use part of the the Marine uniform (Class A or B?)
The following pictures are just the shirt with the patches pinned until I'm happy with the placement. I am also working on aquiring the pants, the boots, and the Russian RFCS patch (when I get around to it)
let me know what you guys think!

I hopefully will have the entire thing completed by February, including the Sam Browne belt, hat, and boots.

I haven't been able to find jack boots, so I may have to substitute regular black jungle boots..
Know of any good places for jack boots Dom?

Hi Forrest,
your uniform seems to be coming along nicely! As for Jackboots I found these Genuine East German Army Jackboots on Ebay.co.uk at only £24.99 GBP Buy It Now available in UK Sizes 8.5 & 9 if that would fit you? They are in the UK but I'm sure one of us could help you out with shipping if they wont ship internationally.

I have a couple of questions relating to the items you already have firstly why have you gone for a Red & White Telnyashka? Secondly what is the purpose of the patch(es) above the right breast pocket on the shirt? (I think I know but don't want to jump to conclusions!)

Looking forward to seeing this developing what kind of headgear are you thinking of, a dress cap or a beret or something else?

Check out www.wephaus.com I got my Jacks and low boots there for my WW2 impression.

They did not have my size of Jack when ordering so I got the low boot. Out of the blue 8 months later they called me saying my size where in so I got them also. Great service.

The reason I went with a red striped Telnyashka was because the red stands for Spetsnaz. In Russia, each service has their own stripe color. Red= Army Spetsnaz, Navy blue=Navy, Green=Border guard, light Blue=VDV, and Black=Russian Naval infantry, I got red because I would be portraying a Colonial Spetsnaz unit officer.
The patch above the right breast pocket is my Blood Type (A+), the roman numeral II designates the blood type (O=I A=II B=III AB=IV) , and the RH is the Rhesus factor (Positive or Negative)
For the headgear I'm getting a dress cap instead of a beret.

Thanks for every bodies help with the jack boots!
Hopefully I can find a good price ^^

Here's an update on the shirt! (don't mind the red striped shirt, haven't gotten the replacement)
I didn't want to just sew on shoulder boards as it wouldn't look right, so I opted for silver generals stars (placed in the format they would appear as on the shoulder boards). and a unit pin on the other side designating FSB intelligence. I'm thinking of painting them to be subdued.

The photo below is what the uniform will look like when completed (the hat is for another uniform, but the RFCS one looks exactly the same but with green piping)

I'll see what I can do about the collar, the shirt came like this, maybe I can talk to a friend of mine.
As for the ribbons, these are non-combat awards, I would never use combat awards or current US military awards for bravery or valor.
Since this is a completely different character (named Sergei) and I'm portraying an EU Nation officer, I had assumed these would be okay for an EU officer only. Not for my other costumes.
Two of those awards are mine for ROTC service (Orienteering and Academics)

Alright, sounds fair.
The collar looks a lot better when it was "Mandarinized"
Pics will come when I can find my phone. :V

Well, if you go by the Colonial Marines comics, the collar is "correct" :)

It did occur to me that there have always been distinct differences between Western and Soviet uniforms so why "conform" to the Mandarin collar of the USCM uniform for an RFCS uniform?

My hat badge, or the comic? XD
Also as an edit:
I've decided to get two shirts, with two of everything, except keeping one collar standard and one mandarin. Just have to wait to finish everything up (hey, shirts were 4 bucks, can't beat that)

A bump from a long lost topic, and even though I have retired the Russian Officers Uniform for now due to a a rip in the shirt that happened at the drop here in my home state, I thought this would be the place to post some updates on my USCM Uniform that is in progress.
Finally ordered my correct (Dom approved :P) ribbons, a white bordered US Flag (may not be completely screen accurate size but heck it's close) and my own custom patch I am having done by a friend of mine plus the "U.S. Colonial Marines" Rocker to go under it. When they open up again for orders, I'm also getting the USCM tape, and my nametape. The collar on the new shirt has been turned into a Mandarin one with a little issue on thread (it's not highly noticable, but I may switch to gluing it in place or have a tailor do it for me).

Pics will come when everything is delivered and updated
apologies as well if the bump was not well received, just didn't feel like making another thread and wasting space.

I'm digging the Russian stuff. ARG does both modern VDV and Soviet Airborne, so I'm liking the look there comrade!

The Marine Corps doesn't use the "Class A" and "Class B" lingo that the Army does. Our non-combat uniforms break down into two types, but multiple configurations. The green pants are the Service Uniform, and the blue pants are the Dress Blues uniform.

It breaks down as so:

Service Uniform ("greens")
Service Alpha: Green coat and pants
Service Bravo: Green pants, long-sleeve khaki shirt (w/tie)
Service Charlie: Green pants, short-sleeve khaki shirt

Dress Blue Uniform ("blues")
Dress Blue Alpha: blue pants and black coat w/medals (restricted use)
Dress Blue Bravo: blue pants and black coat w/ribbons & badges
Dress Blue Charlie: blue pants, long-sleeve khaki shirt (w/tie)
Dress Blue Delta: blue pants, short-sleeve khaki shirt

An easy way to think about it, is that the less of the uniform you wear, the further down the alphabet you go. Lots of the Colonial Marines here have made, or are working on the Service Charlies.

And for help locating Military Surplus goodies, please check out the ARG Resource List. The above mentioned Trident and Wephaus have been listed in it for years.

Thanks for that bit of information Aaron!
I haven't completely abandoned my Russian uniform just yet, I have to get a new shirt, and sew the old patches onto the new shirt...
Some anime kid at the drop had a prop sword that had just enough pointy edge to catch the back of my shirt and tear it from the middle of my back, to my left shoulder. If I was an MP, I would have beat him senseless with my riot baton :P

When you're getting your collar done up, you might want to ask about getting the pockets done too. I had them remove the button and straighten out the cut. Check out my Short-Sleeve Khaki shirt:

I'm not done yet, but it's better than nothing!

There wasn't enough material to make the flap quite as large as seen in the movie, but it's darn close.

There's also no need to put velcro or anything silly on the pocket flap... With a military crease and being straight from the drycleaner, the flap stays folded down and looking sharp.

Did you bring it up to con security? Showing them the damage would have gotten that kid either booted out of the con,
or gotten his sword removed.
