Thats because its a remake of a 1984 game! Elite was the first of its kind. The X Games/ Freelancer etc all owe their heritage to Elite. Its also fan made so dont excpect a studio budget. The game though is freely expandable using mods called OXP's (oolite eXpantion patches) Many of these patches add massive amounts to the game graphics, missions gameplay, ships. etc.

Its also a fairly steep learning curve, its not a fainthearted game but fun when you know how. :)

Yeah, I had the 'full history of Elite and it's spin-offs' lecture from the guy who introduced me to Freelancer.

I have tried X2 and a few others, but found them to be quite tedious. I appreciate the reality of the spaceflight and the hundred different buttons just to make a safe turn, etc etc... But I actually preferred Freelancer's simplified style of mouse control, mainly because I'm gaming on a Netbook. I don't have the joystick & throttle peripheral combo or anything.

It's the learning curve - I don't want to have to sit through five hours of tutorial just to get started. I think that one was Homeworlds - Hours of learn this, learn that.

In full screen Oolite is mouse controlled. Switchable between mouse and cursor keys flyable.

One of the Acer Aspire One 531 range.
It's good enough for movie playback, peripheral DVD drive, 3xUSBs, bunch of other stuff. 7hr battery life, 10" screen.

Ideal for displaying scripts when a director forgets to bring one to the set ;)

Unless you're exceptionally good with a touchpad mouse, I'd really recommend a peripheral USB one. They're only a couple of quid anyway.

Saw a movie on the sy-fy channel a few weeks ago called "Autopsy", among those in it were Jeanette Goldstein and Robert Patrick. I only watched a few minutes of it, not enough to judge it's quality.

Sy-Fy...quality is pretty obvious!!
She was the nurse, right?

There was also a movie on the same channel along the lines of 'Wrong Turn' where Mark Rolston was the crazy killer dad with the caveman looking kids. Obviously chase scenes with teens running through the woods ensued!!

I actually did watch nearly all of it (missed the very beginning) since cheesy horror is kind of my thing. Bloody awful, really, but yeah, she was the nurse. For the most part, I have to give credit that the protagonist didn't do a lot of the typical stupid horror movie stuff that gets you killed. She was kinda bad ass.

Mark Rolston:

Moloney - TV series starring Peter Strauss (how else would I know :D) as Dr. Nick Moloney, a Police psychologist attached to a precinct of the LAPD.

Mark is the main guest star of episode 2: Hard Choices.
He plays a stressed-out cop who vents his frustration on a perp, with dire consequences for both him and his counselor friend Nick.

Bloody great show and an excellent performance for Mark, here!!

Both Mark Rolston and Lance Henriksen appear opposite one another in Survival Quest (1989) I have this on VHS and although it's a bit cheesy and moralising in parts I quite enjoy it!

IMDB (cos I couldn't be bothered to write my own sypnopsis!) wrote:
There are two sets of campers on California's Sierra Madre Mountain. One group is the Blue Legion, a gun-happy squad of teenage boys under the command of survivalist Jake Cannon. The other group, Survival Quest, is a sort of backpacking self-help group led by gentle mountain man Hank Chambers. The Survival Quest group includes smart-aleck Joey, fragile divorcee Cheryl, and alienated convict Gray. Through various exercises and object lessons, Hank teaches his crew how to work together. Jake is harassing the Survival Quest group. When a viciously ill-mannered Blue Legion member named Raider ends up shooting Hank, this angers Jake to no end. While Jake was harassing the Survival Quest group, Jake actually wanted no one to get shot. Jake starts beating Raider up, and Raider responds by shooting Jake and blaming it on the Survival Quest group. Now led by Raider, the Blue Legion plans to kill the Survival Quest members. Cheryl is now in charge of the Survival Quest group, because they think Hank is dead. They work together and race through the wilderness in an attempt to get to the nearest airstrip, while Raider and his group follow them with every intention of killing them.

I'm watching an episode of Criminal Minds called "Cold Comfort". Michael Biehn is playing a detective.

Lance Henrikson starred in an episode of the A-Team during season 2....classic!!
Thanks to Netflix I'm now enjoying these all over again!!

Also I think Ricco Ross is now in a Chase commercial....he's the guy in the taxi!!

Mark Rolston appeared in an episode of Tour of Duty in the late 80s.

Also appeared as a creepy Lt. in an episode of Star Trek TNG ("Eye of the Beholder").

Bill Paxton was also in a movie about tornados.

The Tour Of Duty episode was Seaon 1, Episode 5 entitled "Burn, Baby, Burn" and dealt with racial tension.
He was a "good 'ol boy" in the episode who POed the wrong South Vietnamese soldier. It didn't end well. ;)

TOD is available for like $15 a season at Walmart now. It's pretty interesting the mass amount of guest stars you'd
recognise. :)

Bit of a hijack but yeah TOD has lots of guest stars- for instance one of the "good 'ol boys" in that episode of TOD was the same guy who played T-Bag in Prison Break.

Ashame they couldn't afford the rights to all those fantastic 60s tunes they played in the series for the dvd release. :(

I still have the first two seasons on tape.

Bill Paxton was also the obnoxious older brother "Chet" in Weird Science made in 1985!

And let us not forget Mr Paxton has the unique distinction of having been killed by the Alien, the Predator and the Terminator!

As does Lance Henriksson, I'm told.

See, I watched it, and he didn't explicitly kill Paxton, just messed him up somewhat. He could of survived.

how obscure do you have to be??
Michael Biehn has been in a ton of things, he even lives in the 7th sign
