I'm putting together a ww2 American officer's class A uniform. I know theres a couple of reenacters here, so maybe someone can help me out.
Im abit stuck on the trousers. I've managed to get hold of a pair of repro pinks, but they look far too white to me. i've tried looking up pictures of an original set, but they all look different!

Mine are the same colour as these, which are supposedly original...

however in lots of pictures they seem alot darker -

anyone got any ideas?

Look at this:

Then look at this:

It appears there were more than 1 shade of OD54. So both are correct.

As a former WW2 re-enactor I've seen this topic brought up 100 times.
With the war going on there were multiple factories using all sorts of dyes
to produce pants. It wasn't entirely uncommon to have uniforms come
out of the same factory that were different shades, or fabric blends for that
matter.

Yeah. The hardcores would have you believe there is only one "right color" for every color. Cooter is more than right.

I love modellers and tanks. Some think there is only one right paint color, not counting the various firms and methods of production, sun fading, wear and tear, etc.
