The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

Ouch.

I won't- simply because I don't really look like any of those guys (I've already got too many costumes on the go for D-Con this year anyway).

But more power to ya Ashia- you do look like Ursula!
(I take it that's her in the second pic). :D

Never watched SuperTroopers, but I'm not above watching Reno 911 The Movie. 8)

Hey Adonis, you don't have to be a jerk.

I just posted it because I thought it would be fun.

The movie is hysterical. Let's not be so hasty and be rude to those who might not have the same taste as you.

Thanks.

P.S.

Thanks Sarge...its not supposed to be a 'WOW costume" it just reminds me of the guys who did Reno 911 at DC a couple years ago. :) They were fantastic.

While that costume is a novel idea, I love the film, you could really get in a lot of trouble in that one. As soon as the first unsuspecting, unknowning con personnel gets duped into believing you're a real cop (not pointing fingers but somebody will eventually take advantage of the look) you could all go down for impersonating a real cop.

I don't think you have to worry about that at D-Con.

Thousands of costumes everywhere. Maybe 15% of the attendees are in plain clothes. The Atlanta PD at the con gets razzed all the time for having a "great costume".

One year one of the cops had a sign hanging from his neck that said "Yes. I know it's a great costume." There's a pic of him floating around somewhere.

The Reno 911 guys looked like cops (except for the bike shorts dude). No troubles there.

Now if those guys started directing traffic- or telling people what to do, then I could see trouble brewing.

I think in the context of the convention there shouldn't be a problem.

Well, first off, if you haven't seen the film, you're in no position to make fun of it.

And this goes for any film. See if first, then you can make comments about it being bad.

Secondly, I've seen the film (at least 6 times), and it was bad. Funny, but bad.

Thirdly, the worry about wearing this at DragonCon is not impersonating a Police Officer, it's that no one is really going to get it. They are just in pretty normal Midwest style Police Uniforms. At least the Reno guys have a very specific look and personality to them. You would have to explain this to everyone that walked by.

If you want something interesting and fun like this, go for the Reno 911 outfits, or even Team America. Super Troopers is just not that recognizable.
