The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

This is my freakin' yard today!!!

Image

You guys wanna see what the bottom of a hickory tree looks like?

Image

Stopped short from the house.

Image

Another view: That fence to the right is not holding it.

Image

I had to take this tree out today. The top half was hanging over my truck.

Image

First shot of the back yard.

Image

There's my patio table. LOL!!

Image

Another tree in the back yard.

Image

...and another one...

Image

My pet apple tree. :(

Image

I have no idea where this came from...

Image

...nor this...

Image

...nor this... but, all of the neighbors got some too...

I will sleep tonight truly blessed. :D

I was watching the Severe Weather at work yesterday and this moved off to our NE and moved on towards you.

I had no idea it was that severe.

Glad all your stuff avoided severe damage and your gardening was done for you ;)

Glad you're okay Tom, and that the house wasn't damaged. More importantly, glad your prop-building hands weren't injured!

Real shame about your apple tree though. Can you re-plant it?

Wow! Glad you're okay Tom. Like everyone else, any chance of saving the apple tree? I just planted two of my own last year. We got one small apple this year, hopefully more next year.

as long as everybodys OK, its all good...speaking of wind damage, last night in northern michigan there were multiple tornado touchdowns, with t-storms, wind and hail  not much happened in gaylord, though...

I'm going to do my best. :D It was loaded with apples two years ago. Pruned it back last year and I must have shocked it. Nothing this season. After this incident, it is doubtful it will produce anything next year. We'll see.

Russ, you'll probably have a lot more next year. So much, you'll have to give them away. :D

Image

I did some damage to the bark but got her upright again today.

Image

She's tied down with one of those re-plant kits. IMHO, that's not holding anything much. I may place some bigger ropes on her tomorrow. So much to do so little time.

Image

I've got some work cut out for me.

Image

Unfortunately, I've lost quite a bit of shade due to the storm. But, on a positive note, I'll have plenty of firewood this coming season ... and probably next. :D

Thanks for the kind feedback fellas and sorry for the quick response earlier. I've been busy splitting wood most of the weekend.

Fortunately, there was only one reported injury in my county and that person refused medical attention so I am guessing it wasn't that bad.

The storm was pretty severe. The EBS didn't catch this one in time. Tony, can you check within your network to see if those people are okay? I've read that there are trees down as far North as Missouri.

Ah... Thanks!! Everyone's okay here. Including my silly cat. ;) Yeah, I am fortunate to have a little chunk of property. Trees are great. We provide a sort of haven for the wildlife around here. I still here my pet bluejay from time to time and she continues to mimic my telephone ring tone. :D

As for the corrugated steel panels, it looks like those came from a storage building about three miles from here.
