My Gerber mkII arrived today and it's a real beauty: ![]() I would like to make the blade black like the one(s) in the film but I don't want to damage this as it's quite valuable. Can this be done or should I not bother? |

Aren't there (black) resin copies of the Gerber MkII around? Probably by Matsuo. Harry |

Ah, sorry Scott. I thought of Matsuo first off as all his stuff is black resin. Harry |

Thanks for that; maybe I'll make a cast and create a rubber one as a friend of mine makes casts of items with black rubber. |

No kidding!!! ![]() I'd be in line for one of those! Even my mock resin Gerber gets the evil eye from convention security ocassionally- a rubber one would be zero hassle methinks. Not to mention great for re-enacting the "Do The Thing With The Knife" scene! ![]() ![]() |

Quote: I would like to make the blade black like the one(s) in the film but I don't want to damage this as it's quite valuable. I used cold blue, available at most gunshops. It's a chemical bluing. It will blacken the blade so if you don't want to lose collectability value of the Mk2, then you shouldn't do that. Too late for me. I bought my knife brand new in 1979 pre-Aliens (-7 PA ![]() ![]() Quote: I did a few MK II resin knives.
Scott's resin knives rock! In face, they are cast from my knife. ![]() I do believe the screen used Mk2's didn't have the sharpening steel & pouch unless someone can tell me different ~races to watch movie to confirm~ All in all, a nice addition to your collection, Paul. Mike |
