I'm going to step up for a beating here and say I hated it...

I lost interest the second that little robot got off the plane.

But then, I ain't no Transformers fan!

It does look impressive on a big screen, right enough.

Yep, and machine guns and car chases and near nudity (well, her costume was TIGHT enough to be considered)... all in all a great action film. :)

Heck, Sheila even said we were going to get it when it hits dvd. :)

I was a huge transformer fan when I was a kid. But got rid of them all. GI Joe and He-Man and other toys were rereleased... I never was intersted in the relrelease Transformers just because they weren't the ones I remembered...

But damn that was a good movie. I cryed when Jazz was killed.

I cried when there was an hour of nothing but goofy human characters taking up time that could have been used by robots punching each other in the face. The first time through was okay but a second viewing, at home, left me really uninterested by anything except the action sequences. And even some of those were lacking IMHO. And I'm a huge Transformers fan. Original Prime and Megs still at home. The movie just could have been better.

Edited your post, Adonissniper... Please watch the spoilers for folk who may not have seen it and are daft enough to still read a discussion thread!
( I'll have to ask Gareth about if we can switch on Spoiler tags on the forum... )

Not really the Transformers I remember.

It was good in a sci-fi, giant robot kind of way.
But, I felt there were just too many differences between new and old.

If it was called "Giant robots from outer space", I would have liked it better.

Oops sorry forgot about that. I'll be sure not to mention that Harry Potter is eaten by Hagrid at the end of book 7 too. D'oh!

What was up with Transformers and the whole "let's use people for 5 seconds of screen time. Did the movie really need Bernie Mack, Andrew from Buffy, and that fat guy from Kangaroo Jack? Oh and bigger and fatter Hercules kid from Nutty Professor? Seriously... Transformers = kewl leet robots, not stupid human tricks.

I can only hope that now the Transformers "universe" has been laid out for the general public we can skip a lot of that crap and get right to the robots come sequel time.

But if you just have robots beating the... coolant out of each other, the novelty will run out in about a half hour. Even Star Wars and Star Trek had more than just spaceships blowing themselves to smithereens. :)

Not just fighting, but developing their characters. According to the writers themselves all the robots would have their old G1 personas, quirks and interpersonal agreements/arguments. Having Megatron and Starscream share one line each in a 5 second conversation does hot a homage make. The Decepticons for the most part came off like mindless drones more than evil space warriors.

I make sense a few times each year. Try to save it for important things like discussing Transformers.

Not to mention that except for Ravage, the Decepticons were all Military or rescue vehicles.

I remember G1 first waves... except for Megatron being a pistol, and Soundwave and his tapes, most Decepticons were fliers like jets.

And really, when you get down to it, nothing says fear...

Like a boombox and a tape that transforms into a vulture.

Saw it , enjoyed it.

Except... we have this box that evil giant killer robots want - lets take it to a city with lots of people to escape them? :?:  :?:

My favorite part was.... "We Autobots can't harm humans" blah blah blah... Optimus Prime runs to save Even Stevens Jones from falling from the building, yet runs past the falling helicopter not bothering to check out it the humans might still be alive, letting it crash.

What he meant to say was "We don't harm humans as long as they're holding onto a prize we want."

Oh... So the Destructicons are Republicans and that makes the Autobots Democrats then.
