The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

hi all

My Predator costume is coming along so I thought I would share some pics with you.

I have glued everything to a spandex undersuit but have yet to fill any gaps where I made cuts for mobility (cough belly cough).

And this is my "Don't look at me I'm shy pose"

I have to give a HUGE thanks jediUsurper for his paint work on the head and body suit ( as well sculpting the head as well of course)

Still got to paint the armour pieces and waiting on the shoulder armour and cannon in the post.

Appreciate your feedback guys.

Cheers

Darren

Nice! Now put your USCM armor on over that!

Very cool. Are you getting a cannon with servos and all that, or static?

Not quite what you meant I know but I only took the head with me.

As far as animatronics, sounds etc go I am planning to just get the costume put together first and then I will slowly add things like servos for the shoulder cannon and sound and light on the gauntlets etc.

Cheers

Darren

I was so hoping you were going to post that pic!

Suit is looking amazing Darren, congrats.

Saw the paint job on the mask up close and it is amazing. I particularly like the quills above the eyebrows.

Looking forward to seeing the finished article.

Cheers,

Andy

I'm not sure a Pred Marine would make it past the application process, but with wrist blades on, I'm not sure anyone would question him.

So where did you get the suit parts from? Other than the head.

NICE! That's pretty much what I was talking about. :)

Add the hands and you'd be set. ;)

Your suit looks great though. Even without the USCM uniform. ;)

The body suit is from Dan Snyder, the feet/neck collar are from Monster room and the hands I picked up from a guy called Seahunter on the Lair board. Not sure if they are actually his sculpt or just some that he had spare though.

Cheers

The dreads are from Bambooie. They hang really nice and swish around great (just like in a shampoo ad)

Hi Bri

thanks bud. The costume is fairly comfortable to wear yeah but man is it HOT. I had it on for like 10 minutes when I took the photos above and I was sweating buckets. Of course that could be due to my general lack of fitness of course LOL.

Much better now that it is on the spandex suit but i am still in 2 minds as to wether to make it a 2 piece suit or leave it as it is in one piece. As a one piece I dont need to worry about the legs slipping downwards but it is slightly awkward to get it all on.

Cheers

Darren

I wore the alien for over an hour the other night and was ROASTING! lol! I found that if I press down on the ribs section it gives me a burst of cool air! (Not sure how though?) lol

Practice taking it on and off. You will eventually get it on and off to suit your needs! I can now get the Alien ribs section off myself without any damage! Takes practice! But does come in handy!

If you make it a 2 piece set - you could add braces to the legs as if they were trousers! ;) Then apply the upper half. Would be comfortable also.

I can't wait to see this completed! Always good to see a P1 costume!

P.s Did you get your Bio from Steve? I bet the paint work is shit hot?!! ;)

The legs actually came with braces anyway but since gluing them onto the spandex I cant decide if I want to change it back to a 2 piece. I will have to think about it.

I have not heard back from Steve about the Bio. I am not chasing it though as I have not prepaid for it and funds are tight anyway.

Cheers

Yeah give it some thought! In a way having it 2 piece would be easier to store! ;)

Keep us updated mate! :D

I'd say two piece as well, 'cos lees chance of damaging it taking it off and on as two seperate parts.

A pred with braces - rock on Tommy.

Not yet Bri. I'm waiting until I have a second pair hands to paint in the latex in the gaps whilst I'm wearing the suit. I have to do it this way since my attempt at a duct tape dummy was a complete failure LOL.
Then I have to find a free weekend that I can get together with my mate to paint all the armour pieces but I am waiting for the shoulder armour and cannon to arrive before I do that.

I also need to fill out the feet with some foam or something and put some kind of small platform/tread on the bottom of them.

Cheers

Darren

Ah ducktape dummies - they are good fun!

Ah if you give the gaps a few coats of latex it should be strong enough for alot of wear and tear! Make sure the armor looks very weather beaten and worn! Always adds to realism! This should be the best Predator in the UK!! Glad its based on P1;)

Boots would be a good thing to wear under the feet! That way your feet will be protected from anyone stepping on them! A problem I'm alil worried about when wearing the bug feet! lol

Best of luck to ya mate!

Made a bit more progress with my Pred costume tonight. I got the torso, thigh, shin and cod piece armour done. Sorted out the belt and deer hide and put some trainers inside the feet so that I can now walk properly.
