Post subject:  My Alien claw room themed home theater
Sorry for a whole new thread for this but since I remodeled my home theater to have cues from the claw room in alien (where Brett gets his) I think it qualifes as a prop. :)

That means pipes on the wall, chains and hooks hanging from the ceiling. I replaced the wires holding up the screen with chains as well and got rid of half the other Sci fi junk even though it still looks cluttered in pics in real life it just look like a movie set or haunted house or something. Very nice mood setting room for movies.

Sony HS51A got it at Ultimate Elcectronics. They were running an 18 month no payment on interest plan.

It's a 3 chip LCD with Dynamic iris so it has a max contrast of 10,000 to 1. At which point the picture is so dark it's unwatchable.. LOL I am getting in the 1500 real world contrast which is just fine.

LOVE it! REALLY comes close to feeling like you are at the movies.

Nice. How many hours do you get out of the lamps before you need to replace them?

I'm probably going to DIY my projector. I'm going more for the movie theater feel than a dedicated cool toy room... Although I'll have some of those there as well. :)

The Mrs. said I can do the project, and I have lots of ideas. Just not so much money right now. Remodeling is expensive. :roll:

well it's rated at 2000 hours in high mode, 3000 in low mode.

If you go the the AVSforums you'll hear stories all over the place on how long they actually last.... apparently each bulb goes when it goes.

Supposedly 1000 hours is about a year with 15 hours per week.
