Me too, once. SAS Anything that, in happening causes itself to happen, happens again. |

Thats Royal mail for you... i always have a large label for who im sending it to and a real small one with my address, (BECAUSE ROYAL MAIL CAN'T ALWAYS WORK IT OUT. ![]() and if its a parcel, i let royal mail put on all the tracking labels etc...so far never had a parcel sent back to me... lost a few in the post.. ![]() when i ran my own busniess i sent everything by a courier not royal mail, may have cost a bit more but i knew it would get there and i could track everything online... and don't get me started on the post codes!!! whats the point of putting them on something if they still get delivered to the wrong house? or wrong town!!! |

Not to get off topic but USPS (US Postal Service) I swear is a conspiracy. Small envelope sent first class would get lost. Same thing sent priority for about $4 more would get there fine. I swear they see that you've paid more for postage and treat it better. Anything below priority is used for toilet paper before they send it on......drives me nuts!!! But Royal Mail for me hadn't been an issue when I've used it. Except when sending gifts home for Xmas one year.....arrived in the UK Nov 20th, arrived at my folks place in Cheltenham January 10th......WTF?!?!?!?!? |

I used to work for Royal Mail (admin/complaints section) and this problem ALWAYS came up. We had so many complaints from our customers. I am amazed that its STILL happening! Shit that you had to go through this Rev.... The bastards need a kick up the arse! I would use Citylink or Eagle courier Bri:D IN SPACE NO-ONE CAN HEAR YOU SCREAM... I too would avoid CityLink like the plague. I had to go to the Parcel Force depot this morning to find out what happened to my Predator torso armour which I paid the customs charges *pftteu* nearly a fortnight ago. Turned out someone had put it on a different sorting shelf and no-one had questioned why it hadn't gone out. ![]() |

Don't forget guys that your mail is scanned using optical character recognision to sort it. Generally it's only if it fails machine readability that a human being checks it and sorts it by hand, so if the OCR picks up the wrong address that's where it will get routed in the system rather than being rejected. The return address needs to go on the rear. For those who are interested at all Royal Mail publish detailed pdf diagram guides for envelope layout and addressing showing the correct area of the envelope space for addresses, postage, clear areas etc. If you make sure your envelopes adhere to the guidlines there's a far better chance of them getting to where they're meant to go. ftp://ftp.royalmail.com/Downloads/publi ... elines.pdf - Standard size envelope ftp://ftp.royalmail.com/Downloads/publi ... r_Mail.pdf - Large Letter format Sorry guys, I can't seem to post a link without it automatically prefixing it with "" - not much help when the link is to ftp. Oh and no I don't work for Royal Mail. ![]() Edited by: at: 6/2/07 6:43 pm |
