My wife recently bought a Cricut Maker machine which, among other things cuts self-adhesive vinyl. At the theatre I work at I've just made up a new bunch of cables for our lighting rig, all of which need labelling so that you can tell which cable runs where. In the past I used a 'Tipp-Ex' correction fluid pen (I think you US folks call it 'white out') and hand-write on the plugs and sockets, but not any more; and what better font to use but the USCM Stencil font! First thought: "What prop are those from?" Second Thought: "Whatever they are, those stencils make them look pretty cool". Then read the post: Very Cool. And those around you get to wonder why you are laughing when you are rigging. Will be watching to see what projects you come up with for the Cricut. |

when i was in production i worked ata theatre built in 1932, generally color coded our pars and other lights with E-tape. i know the paint pens youre talkin about, metal with a bb inside. I had a brief theory that they were used on USCM armor for the thin grey lines. sure works good for it anyway. more hardcore then whiteout. |

I might try that when I do the flat black on my armor and see how they turn out... |
