The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

Overall compared to last year, I'm pretty unimpressed.

The good...

The "Star Trek Legends" game looks cool.

Even though I mocked it, I have to say "Wii" actually looks like an okay system. With a stupid name. :D

The trailer for "Neverwinter Nights 2" looked cool. Still waiting to view the in game footage...

Again, "Battlefield 2142" looks great.

"Chromehounds" looks like it will fill the gap in mech games left by the vanishing of the Mech Assault series.

360's "Gears of war" doesn't look too bad.

"Armored Core 4."

The bad...

Dirty Harry. What the hell? So, when are they going to crank out an "Airport '76" game. Sheesh. I'm tired of all the game companies thinking the 70s are cool again.

$600.00 for the new PS3????? God... I may be forced to actually buy a 360 now. And I thought THAT was an insanely priced system. I just don't know if Killzone 2 will be enough for me to plunk down that many credit card payments for a new system. OH, and don't forget, the SYSTEM costs $600... figure an extra $50 for another controller, and another $50-60 for one bloody game! Yikes, that's half the cost of my last motorcycle...

No "Killzone 2" footage... or much of anything. The story now is that the KZ2 footage shown last E3 was indeed game footage, but it was rendered at 8 fps (using alpha dev hardware), and was sped up to 60fps for the trailer. Supposedly the "final" dev kits won't be hitting the publishers until September or october. Makes launching a system in November... interesting...

The ugly...

Did I mention the PS3 price? I did? Dang.

Getting back to the coverage of the con, not enough coverage of PC games. And TOO MUCH REHASHING of the dang "big titles." I didn't see any mention of Killzone for the PSP (downloaded some videos... different take on the game...).

Overall, I found last year's E3 coverage to be better, but it's looking like the 360 will be leading the next gen console war by Christmas this year. We'll have to wait and see.

A Dirty Harry Game? I though the From Russia With Love game was pushing their luck... seems that game developers are running out of ideas these days.

But not that I can talk, I'm still waiting for MGS4. And the next Halo 3.

i watched also, and like rook yes i was very dissapointed. i have never bought or will i ever buy nintendo. "gear of war" looked totally kick ass last year but when they "demo'd" the game this year it looked kinda choppy and skippy. metal gear 3 looked good but no actuall game play was shown. the booth bunnies coulda been alot hotter also. and it kinda looked like one of them was packing a "scoped pulse rifle?" did anyone else see that? i am just thinking about buying the reg. ol' x-box and start building a library of games and wait for the prices to drop as usuall. 600 bucks? for that price it better have all the drives and "hop ups" built in. and backwards compatable for all the p.s. and p.s.2 games!! plus linkable to the p.s.p. and my car for security reasons.

Actually, it IS backwards compatible with the PS1 and PS2, and it can connect to the PSP as well, via either wi-fi or bluetooth (I don't recall which). :) It will also play standard CDs and dvds as well.

In the Sony press conference all they said about the difference between the $499 and $599 consoles was the $599 had a bigger HDD, but one of the Geek4, I mean, G4 guys said it was lacking some other bells and whistles as well, so who knows. They claim in the USA there's already a 25% market penetration of households with HDTV receivers. I want to know who that 25% is. It's nobody I know. :)

PS3 games are more than likely going to be noticably more expensive than Xbox 360 and Wii games because they are using the new blueray technology for the PS3 games.

I believe the lower end PS3 is missing a set of HDMI ports.

Gears of War was much better during the live demo than what I saw online. The online version did indeed look choppy.

As for the Wii... that was just annoying. No hype is worth a 5 hour wait.

The PS3 looked good, but no better than the Xbox 360. The 360 is looking more immediately impressive than the PS3.

360 definately has games to show that are actually working, and not prerendered crap with actors pretending to play them.

It will cretainly be an interesting next couple of years.

I remember balking at the 360's price for the deluxe package, and THEN I see the PS3's deluxe package price... GAH!

I noticed THAT little tidbit of info was missing from Sony's 2 hour long press briefing. :D

High def = high hype. Yes, I've seen working HD in the field, in a person's home, and it suuuure is pretty. And really, there's nothing I like more than watching that eternally looping nature video broadcast on the discovery HD channel. ;)

But I know I'm not going to run down to Best Buy this weekend and drop $4K on a 60" HD monitor. Not going to happen. Wife would kill me.

I use that phrase a lot... Want to buy item XYZ... can't, wife would kill me.
